My cooking tragedies
Planning to make a stir-fry with peanut sauce, I tossed some bean sprouts and peanut butter into a leftover container and went to the store for the rest of the ingredients. My husband came home for lunch and thought the peanut butter mixture looked interesting enough to eat. He was traumatized by the taste and, six years later, will still not eat bean sprouts. Come to think of it, he hasn't eaten peanut butter since either.

Whole Grain Breakfast Cookies
I think of these more as a not-terrible-for-you dessert. Too tasty for breakfast! One time I was out of agave and used honey instead, which made them sweeter than I prefer but may be a good option if making for pickier eaters and children who are used to sweets.

Super Al's Cocktail Sauce
So easy and as good as or better than premade sauces. We've substituted white wine vinegar for the fresh lemon juice when we didn't have lemons.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic
Maybe we didn't use high-quality-enough vinegar, but I was slightly disappointed. My family thought it was pretty good, but I wanted there to be another flavor, some sweetness, to balance out the pungency of the vinegar and garlic (six cloves is a lot for four servings).
