About this Cook
I'm married to an aussie with 2 small boys, the youngest of whom is about to start school which might mean I have to think about returning to work! I should say paid work because obviously I don't sit around all day drinking coffe. I only do that in the mornings. In the afternoon I drink tea.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, far too much really as I tend to eat most of the results. We get a vegbox delivered every week, this started in attempt to eat more locally and seasonaly and it has revolutionised the way I cook. We eat a much greater variety of veg and many more vegetarian meals. Now instead of deciding what to cook and going out to buy the ingredients. I look in the fridge - see what I've got and decide what to cook from there.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The boys love helping me make pizza, kneading the dough and "decorating". It's a regular Friday night treat.
My cooking tragedies
Hot cross buns like bricks before I understood what the point of kneading was!

Greek Tzatziki
Great. A really authentic flavour and virtually calorie free when made with fat free yoghurt. Made a massive quantity Even though I only made a third.

Healthy Banana Cookies
These were a real surprise. It's the first time I've done any baking without sugar so I had my doubts but these were great. They held together beautifully (no egg required )and were a really tasty guilt-free treat, that I'm sure I'll be making again and again. I used 2 tsp of cinammon and I definitely think some spice is required. I used a mix of dates, prunes and apricots simply because I didn't have enough dates. As long as the bananas are over ripe and therefore sweet I don't think it matters too much what type of dried fruit you use.

Sweet Potato Pecan Waffles
Very tasty and a nice way to use up some roasted pumpkin I had left over. I used cinammon instead of nutmeg and 1/4 tsp of salt was more than enough. If you're not dousing them in syrup or using tinned s.p or pumpkin I'd add another tbsp of sugar to the mix.
