Creamy Carrot Soup

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
This was delicious. I am not a rosemary fan, so I omitted it, as well as the ginger. Instead I added garlic powder, cayenne and ground coriander to taste. (Fresh cilantro would be great too.) I used half cream, half milk, with some sour cream thrown in for good measure. I served with a dollop of sour cream. Just wow!

Pisang Goreng (Indonesian Banana Fritters)

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
These weren't bad but they definitely needed more sugar for my liking. Since a lot of the batter mix is left in the bottom of the bowl, the sugar probably didn't really mix in well. Honey might have solved this issue since it's a liquid. Also, I'd prefer it if they were a little crispier on the outside.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This bread is delicious. What sets it apart from other bread recipes for me, is that it is the prefect chewiness (I think the oats have something to do with this.) I didn't use bread flour - just regular all purpose flour. I didn't use wholewheat flour either, but I did add about 1/4 cup wheat bran. I divided the recipe in thirds, which yielded 2 loaves. I definitely recommend this one!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
To. die. for. So moist. I only used 1/4 cup margerine, but added a little heavy cream just because I had some lying around. Also only used 2/3 cup sugar. Me and my husband ate the whole loaf in an hour. I think I am going to make it again tonight!

Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Yum! I measured the 3/4 cup butter in a cup rather than using the 1/4 c measurements on the stick of butter. I think i used a lot less butter this way and they were still abosolutely delicious. Best U.S recipe for english scones so far.

Delicious, except definitely cut the salt content in half and add extra lemon juice and ginger to the sauce.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
I don't usually bother to write reviews, but felt compelled to with this one. Firstly, I have a breadmaker but my last 5 loaves have been a little dissappointing. This time I decided to go back to basics and not use a bread maker. This recipe is spot on. It really is no fail - Mine didn't rise very much so I was worried about that, but it worked out woderfully. Great texture. Very authentic recipe!
