About this Cook
I'm the parent of three children; My significant other and I host students from other countries.I love to make people happy with good things to eat.We like to try different meals and traditions from other countries. I especially like to use products that are from local farmers, if at all possible; also from my own garden.I live in Minnesota- our growing season is very short; so I enjoy fresh vegetables while possible.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta and fresh herb dishes, also grilled meats.
My favorite family cooking traditions
To have everyone's favorites at holidays; but to add new things. My family background is Norwegian, and I have fond memories of my grandmother and great aunt making good treats. No lutefisk for me,though.
My cooking triumphs
Making my first turkey dinner and it all was ready at the same time.I made for about 30 people, all who had no family near.It became a tradition;with these same people for about four years. We all ended up moving elsewhere, etc.
My cooking tragedies
Making an angel food cake using my mother's cake pan; that my father and mother got for a wedding gift(over twenty five years later) and burning it soooo bad, that the pan had to be thrown out. Burning angel food cake doesn't smell very good either. My father still brings this up,joking!

Canadian Honey Apple Walnut Cobbler
I loved this,I also added applesauce to make it a tad bit more moist. It was perfect with the original ingredients, etc.I just wanted to try it with applesauce, since I had some to use up.Definitely will make again! Thank-you,for sharing. Brenda

I made this for my two German exchange students; they pronounced it "Great"!! just like from home. It was very easy; I pounded the cutlets the night before, I used a combination of beef broth and boullion in the gravy. I served it with thick fries with the skin on, and fresh green beans!! Yummy- there were no leftovers. Thanks!
