About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family owned several restaurant's, when I was growing up so I feel like I grew up helping in a big busy kitchen. Almost everyday, from middle school through high school, I would go work in the kitchen after school(I made and ate a lot of Philly cheese steak sandwiches those days!). Anyway, it was usually cutting and chopping but you can learn a lot from being around people who know how to cook! Every Saturday, Momma would bake cheesecakes for the restaurants and my sister and I would help too. I particularly love baking probably because of the female fellowship shared on those Saturdays.
My cooking triumphs
I feel my cakes are always a triumph. I love baking cakes! I am so proud of my children's birthday cakes every year. There are so many creative ways to cut and frost a cake, and I am always delighted by their beauty, taste, and texture.
My cooking tragedies
For some reason, I often burn the bread! I'm so busy juggling all the things simmering and browning on the stove, plus all the commotion of the table being set, I often don't focus on that aspect. If we eat rolls at all, we've learned to eat them brown!

Clark's Quiche
Only thing wrong with this recipe is how much I ate of it!!! Made exactly as written. I keep going back for "one more sliver" and have ended up eating a quarter of the darn thing! AND still want more! Thanks alot for blowing my diet with this one Clark!

Banana Pudding Cake
If you want to know what this tastes like without having to bake anything, jump in your car and head down to IHOP. Order a tall stack of banana pancakes with glaze. It will have the same preservative taste--processed, sickly sweet, fake flavor as this recipe. Next time I'll make banana bread or muffins with my leftover bananas.

Breakfast Sausage Roll
This is a great recipe that I have made for years, and is particularly a favorite when I take to Sunday school breakfast-- with one major change. I always mince and saute one whole onion in butter before adding to sausage mixture. I also use Cheddar cheese or a Colby-Jack mix, which keeps it from tasting so much like pizza. Be sure and use the defrosted whole bread loaves, too. Crescents will not give it the same flavor.
