Autumn Spice Ham Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
My whole family loved it. I followed the recipe closely, but used sugar free syrup. It still came out delicious, and the kids gobbled it up and asked for more.

Salmon with Mango and Brie

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
I loved it. I thought it was very simple to make and very tasty. I followed the recipe closely except for some kosher salt rubbed into the salmon prior to cooking. I thought the cooking times listed were longer than necessary. I will not be making this recipe often though because my kids did not like it too much - they prefer their flavors separated. They love salmon grilled with just a little lemon pepper seasoning - how boring.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
Delicious!!! I took an idea from a different recipe and coarsely chopped 5 peanut butter cups and added it to the pie filling. I also read the instructions wrong and only added 8oz of cool-whip instead of 16oz. Therefore I did not have enough filling for 2 pie crusts, but definately more than enough for one. I've made it twice in the last week and everybody that has tried it has raved about it. (Actually, the recipe is so easy to make that the second time my 7&9 yr. old daughters made it by themselves.) I'm sure we'll be making this again.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Made it tonight for super bowl Sunday. As some other reviewers had suggested, I also swapped the lettuce out for Guacamole and the green peppers for pickled jalepnos. I also omitted the salsa, but used a salsa guacamole mixture instead. So I guess, mine was more of a 6-layer dip. But either way, it was terrific!

Cinnamon Syrup

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
I've made this syrup several times and it is quick and easy. Everybody loves it. I even made it for breakfast after my daughter's slumber party and several of the mom's called for the recipe because their kids raved about it. The only reason I give it a four is because it becomes very thick and slightly goopy. But the kids like to spread it on their pancake. And the flavor is awesome.

German Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
Nice flavor but way too thick. Not really a soup at all. I added at least 3 cups more broth than listed in the recipe based on reviews, and it was still too thick. My husband and kids didn't enjoy it at all.

Creamy Chicken Asparagus Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
A quick easy tatsy meal for the whole family. My kids usually complain about asparagus, but definitely enjoyed it in this dish. I made it exactly as written except for the almonds - didn't have any on hand. I will make this one again and again.

Chicken In Sour Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
Wow! A great recipe the whole family will love. I used the recipe almost as written, except I did not brown the chicken first and I used a whole cut up chicken instead of 8 thighs. It was ridiculously easy to prepare and delicious. I served brown rice alongside it drizzled with the flavorful sauce from the pan.

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
The only pork chops I have ever liked. So juicy and tender and tasty!! My husband likes pork chops and I keep trying different ways to make them because I just cannot tolerate their texture for some reason. After all these years I was astounded to finally find one I liked. Made just as written. Will definately use this recipe again.

Charleston Shrimp 'n' Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
The recipe was good...not great. I added about a tablespoon of brown sugar to it because it was a little too salty and slightly bitter at first. If my kids weren't eating with us I probably would've added some hot sauce as others have suggested. The gravy was also very thin and I had to add a flour mixture to thicken it up at the end. I served it over rice for dinner and was actually surprised at my families great response to it. I will definately make it again for them, with the tweaking.

Very good and simple to make. My husband and I both liked it, and my kids ate it, although they needed ketchup to make it taste more kid friendly.

Halloween Bloody Baked Rats

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
Absolutely fabulous! My kids loved them. First they named them and introduced them to each other. Then they gobbled them down. My husband didn't name his, but enjoyed the meal just as much. I made the recipe exactly as written, except I didn't have cubed cheese on hand. So I made little balls of shredded cheddar cheese to put inside. I will definately make this one again.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
Delicious pancake mix. I was looking for a good simple mix with basic ingredients I know are in my cupboard (no buttermilk, no quick oats, no wheat flour). I mixed in 3 very ripe (turning brown)cut bananas instead of chocolate chips (since I don't always have them around either). The pancakes were thick, fluffy and the kids gobbled them up. I think I'll just keep making these, because they are just as easy as buying pancake mix in the store. I didn't try the syrup.

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
Followed the recipe, but added some lime juice over the whole thing. The chicken tasted good, not great. Came out a little greasy. Didn't taste very flavorful. I probably should have increased the spices like many others did. Will probably go back to the family favorite - a citrus beer but chicken.

Very easy and interesting combination of flavors. The hubby and kids enjoyed it. The combination of ranch and teriyaki surprised me. Will definately make again.

Tossed Salad with Citrus Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
Excellent salad. I served it tonight at a July 4th BBQ and everyone that ate it commented on how good it was. When I told them the ingredients, one guest told me he hated blue cheese but didn't taste it. I don't know how he missed it, but the overall combination of flavors was yummy.

Alice's Sour Cream Chicken Breasts

The kids were happy to eat it without any complaints. My husband and I thought it was okay, not great. I probably won't make it again unless the kids ask for it.

Creamy Veggie Fondue

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Great fondue. Made it twice. The first time for a 70's party and everybody raved about it. The second time I made a version without the cayenne for my kids because they don't like spice. Still very good.
