Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
I love the flavor of this recipe. This is SPICY. So if you are looking for a kid friendly seasoning, decrease the red pepper and chili powder. I make a quadruple recipe and store it so it is ready when I want it. I use 2-3 Tbs. per pound of meat and about the same or a little more water.

Cake with Buttercream Decorating Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
My grandma uses the same icing recipe. However...everyone should note to use clear vanilla extract to get a solid white icing.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
Thanks to another reviewer, these turned out pretty well. They were really sweet, so next time I will decrease the amount of choc chips. I was disappointed on how small they ended up. I am looking for a recie that makes them huge bakery size!

Summer Berry Parfait with Yogurt and Granola

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
I used Light & Fit sugar free, low carb vanilla creme yogurt. I also reduced the amount of each fruit to 1/4 c. & used Sam's cereal instead of the granola to help cut out some carbs! I don't even like yogurt & I love this special morning treat!

Asparagus Side Dish

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
This was the first time I have ever tried asparagus & I loved it!! The only thing is...I would tell ppl not to stir the asparagus & cheese once you put it in or it sticks to the pan...oops :)

Easy BBQ Flank Steak with Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
I did not make the dipping sauce, so this could be a 6* recipe!! Iused the marinade for some steaks I had....it was a great blend of spices!!! I only marinaded them for 40 min...I just forked the steaks to make it easier for the juices to get into the meat. I will def marinade them like 4 hours next time :) Mmmm

Chicken, Asparagus, and Mushroom Skillet

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
I was pretty disappointed with this meal. It may just be my picky tastebuds! I made this exactly to the directions, but had to cover the skillet for the asparagus so it could steam cook b/c it was too hard. I am a person who loves flavor & this recipe was too bland.

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
This is so cute. I took this idea & just ran with it. I used lettuce, broccoli, mushrooms, hard boiled egg slices, tomatoes, chicken slices, dried cranberries. Then I allowed my guests to add sliverd almonds, shredded cheese & their own dressing. I didn't want to ruin the leftovers with the cheese & dressing. Thanks for this cute idea!

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
I rarely use rosemary or thyme in recipes due to their flavor, but I really enjoyed this dish. I love balsamic vinegarette, so I decided to try this recipe....MMMmmm. I did cook the sauce a little longer b/c it didn't seem to reduce that quickly. I made this with buttered egg noodles & garlic & parmesan baked cauliflower. The sauce was great on all of it!!

The Most Easy and Delish Meatloaf EVER!

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
I loved this meatloaf recipe! So flavorful! I did have some excess juice, but I think it was because I used 70/30% beef. I also added a little bit of garlic garlic seasoning from Tastfully Simple to give just a little more flavor b/c I love garlic :) I also put some ketchup on top. Mine cooked for 1 hr 20 min. too!

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
My family loves flavo & this recipe lacked some for us. We felt something was missing. I marinaded the chicken for about 30 hours. We did cook this on the grill instead of the broiler, so maybe that had some impact on it?!??! This would be a kid friendly recipe, I think!

Spaghetti Squash Medley

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
I gave this recipe 3 stars b/c I found it was still too bland. I tripled the garlic, added oregano & even some shredded cheese & it was still too bland. I think this recipe needs some meat or something!

Cinnamon-Apple Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
This was a real hit, although I felt it was missing something in the mix! I subbed Rice Chex for the Wheat kind & a dried mixed berry mix, that I found at Aldi's, instead of the apples. I did add the yogurt covered raisins too early & they melted slightly.

I also used almond bark & it was very sweet! I only used 1 lb. 8 oz. of it & had plenty. Next time I will hunt dow real white chocolate. I subbed the cherrios for Cocoa Krispies and almonds for cashews. Next time I will add raisins!

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
This fondue is fantastic! I substituted the coffee powder for 1/3 cup of freshly brewed coffee & 2 pkgs. milk chocolate chips for the bar kind, based on other's reviews. Since I used the brewed coffee, I ommitted the water. Next time I would add more coffee so I could taste more of the flavor. I used my small crock pot on low & this kept the chocolate warm enough without burning it!Thanks Daysee for making my friend's birthday so special!

Cheesy Pizza Fondue

I thought this recipe was delicious. We used French bread & Italian bread chunks in it. It was so yummy! Thanks Nel for your recipe! Make sure to put your crockpot on low while cooking too, otherwise it will burn!

Cheddar Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
This is a delicious dish! I usually prefer fried or grilled chicken over oven-baked chicken...but this is great! I wouldn't change a thing. I cut the chicken into pieces & mixed it in rice & canned corn & it was so tasty! Thanks Judy for this wonderful dish! This would defintely be a dish for kids too!

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
As a kid, I loved eating this dessert, however I am not a pudding lover. I use either 2 tubs of Cool Whip, or I make my own Dream Whip whipped topping, mix it in with chocolate pudding & make it a mousse. I definitely use chocolate pudding & leave out the butter & cream cheese. Sometimes I choose to not make a cookie layer in the middle. I always use gummi worms, even inside the bottom mixture. For an Easter dessert, use a plastic basket container (found at Wal-Mart), gummi worms, chick PEEPS, robin eggs & little plastic flowers. The best thing about this dessert is that you can totally personalize it.

I made this on the stovetop, but I plan on changing the recipe a little bit to make it a little thicker...It went great with white rice.
