Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2014
I have made these so many different ways using different ingredients but keeping the same butter sauce. I've used smoked turkey and brie with honey mustard, ham, gruyere and bacon bits with the chive cream cheese, thinly sliced roast beef, cheddar and horseradish cream cheese... My family loves them and they're great for Sunday football or a simple cocktail party!

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2014
I have made tiramisu from several different recipes and this one is probably the best I've tried. My only change was that I doubled the amount of coffee/liquor based on other reviews and used Grand Marnier instead of rum(just my preference). And as others have said, you really should let it sit for a day or two because the flavors meld so much better. The difference was day and night between day 1 and day 2. My whole family loved it and I'll definitely make this again!

Butterscotch Popcorn Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
This was really good. The only change I made was, after the popcorn mixture had hardened and cooled, I drizzled melted chocolate over it and allowed it to harden completely before breaking it into pieces. It was a huge hit with my husband and son...

Greek Pizza with Spinach, Feta and Olives

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I needed lots of appetizers for a party and this fit the bill as I could make several large pizza's and cut them into smaller pieces to feed a large group. I used my own homemade dough and store bought alfredo sauce instead of the mayo. I really think the alredo sauce made a big difference. I will definitely be making this again.

Cocktail Birthday Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
The first time I made this I followed the directions to a "T". The second time, I modified it to reflect my family's taste and it was a huge hit. I added swiss cheese to the ham layer and provolone to the salami layer. Then, since we don't like curry, I mixed a 50/50 ration of goat cheese and cream cheese with a little garlic powder and onion flakes for the icing. It was awesome@!

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
I've been making these for years and the list of ways to change it up are endless. I've added orange peel and grand marnier to the cream, I've spread a thin layer of raspberry preserves on the inside of the shell, then filled w/ the vanilla cream mixture blended with raspberry liquor. I've made tiny shells and fille with savory fillings like crabmeat dip or mexican chili inspired beef and cheese. Chocholate pudding and godiva liquor is my husbands favorite...

Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
This is the easiest ice cream recipe I have tried. It's fast, uses only 3 ingredients and it's delicious. I really like how versatil it is. I've made coconut ice cream by blending a teaspoon of coconut flavoring and 1 cup of flaked coconut with the half and half in the blender for a few seconds, then proceeding as directed. I've also made cinnamon ice cream by adding cinnamon. I've added pineapple and macadamia nuts to the coconut as well to make a great caribbean treat! Next on my list will be mango, followed by egg nog ice cream by adding nutmeg, rum flavoring and cinnamon. This one is a true winner!

Dried Cherries, Pecans and Rosemary Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
This is a great recipe- I made it twice, once as written and once using dried apricots. Both got high praise from my guests.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
This sauce is really delicious and easier than any Alfredo sauce I've ever made. I did, however, make one substitution - I used mascarpone instead of cream cheese to avoid that tangy cream cheese flavor. Everyone loved it and I will definitely make this again.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I made this frosting to use on Halloween cupcakes for my son's class halloween party. It quickly became the only frosting he wants. His friends actually ask me to make cupcakes for their play dates and specifically ask that I make "THE" frosting! It lasts in the fridge for a long time, too.

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
I did something I never do - I made this cake based on the 4.5 stars rating without reading the reviews! The cake tasted oily and left a greasy feeling on my hands as I threw it in the garbage. (Could there be a typo in the oil measurement?) No one in the house would eat it. Won't make this again as there are far better carrot cake recipes on this site.

Ricotta Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
This cake is excellent. I've made it several times, from the standard recipe and several times with a few changes. I've added organge zest and a splash of orange liquor to the ricotta. I've also added Chambord liquor and fresh raspberries, almond flavoring and ground almonds- the possbilities are endless. My next cake will have ground hazlenuts and Frangelico liquor!

Artichoke and Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This was good, just not great. I made it the first time according to directions but no one really loved it. On my second try, I added sun dried tomotoes and swapped out greek Kalamata olives for the black. I used the required lemon juice but added about 2 tsp of grated lemon zest as well and the family declared it a winner.

Lazy Dazy Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
My mother made this, my favorite cake, regularly when I was a child but I had completely forgotten about it until I came across this recipe. It was delicious and my husband, who had never had it, LOVES it! I did add vanilla to the batter and bake it for a shorter time, but other than those changes, this recipe is perfect!

Irish Soda Bread IV

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2007
I agree that the buttermilk measurement must be wrong. I had to add another 2 cups of flour to get a dough that even resembled bread. It was still too moist. I ended up with something resembling a batter rather than dough. When finished, the texture was close to a banana nut bread. Not bad actually, but not the irish soda bread I was aiming for.
