Sinigang na Baka

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
Made this recipe on the recommendation of a coworker. What an unusual flavor. Omitted the beef and added okra and taro root. Yum! We put it on top of rice and it was really filling. My mom told me it was the best soup she's ever eaten and my husband gave it the thumb's up!

Awesome Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
I made this recipe for my husband who is home sick with a cold right now. He gives it five stars and says it is great. (I'm vegetarian, so I'll have to take his word for it!) I'm not sure I'd make this recipe again the way it is written, however. I found it to be way too time consuming. Next time I will remove the chicken from the bone before putting it in the water. The recipe simply says to "strain" the cooked chicken from the water, but my gosh, this took me FOREVER to find all the tiny little bones and inedible bits and remove them from the cooked chicken before putting it back into the stock. This was tedious and certainly avoidable next time. Thank you to Beezlys (a reviewer) for her excellent suggestions. As she suggested, I cooked the noodles separately and added them later, used ¼ cup of “Better than Bouillon” chicken base paste, and used couple of cloves of fresh garlic. I did not use any lemon grass because I wanted a more traditional flavor, but might try that next time.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2007
Thanks for the yummy chocolate chip cookie recipe! I usually make the Nestle Toll House recipe, but bought some chocolate chips that didn't have a recipe on them. So I knew I could find one here. These turned out great! I made them with an egg substitute (husband is allergic to eggs) and they still turned out very well!

Red Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
This is a great Enchilada sauce! I used to always make my enchiladas with a mix sauce, which I was happy to have, but then when I moved to England, there were no mixes to be found. So I made this sauce out of desperation. Now the mix sauces taste terrible in comparison! This sauce has raised the bar for me! :-) Thanks! I'll never go back. :-)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!! I made these for my husband who had never had a cinnamon roll! (was he raised by wolves? I think so!) He is also allergic to eggs, so I substituted the eggs with Enrg egg-replacer. They turned out sooo well. I was really pleased. They looked so nice when they came out of the oven, too. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Mock Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
After being vegetarian for 11 years, one of the few things I still crave are tuna salad sandwiches! Thanks for this great recipe. It really hit the spot for me. My husband didn't rate them as highly, but I loved them and will make them again the next time I get a craving for tuna salad! Thanks!

Chile Rellenos

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2006
We live nowhere near any Mexican restaurants, so it has been over a year since I've had a chile relleno! I was reallly craving them! My husband is allergic to eggs, so I had to modify the recipe slightly by using egg-replacer. I was hoping these would still turn out somewhat fluffy, but no luck. The batter was more like wnat you have on the fish in "fish n' chips". Still I was happy to have something resembling chile rellenos! The recipe was a lot of work, and if I lived anywhere remotely near somewhere that served chile rellenos, I would not spend the effort to make these. But at least they satisfied my craving and my husband got to try a chile relleno for the first time.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! Delicious! I didn't have a way of grilling these, so I just sauteed them until done and they were scrumptious! A real vegetarian treat. My husband thought they were great, too. I will definitely make this one again. Thanks!

Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
We were in the mood for Stuffed Peppers and this recipe looked good. We didn't have any dried cranberries or pecans on hand, so I substituted them with raisins and walnuts, which tasted great. Lots of interesting textures/flavors! My husband raved at how nice the filling was and that it seemed "meaty." I will likely be making this recipe again. Thanks!
