Shauna's 11th Birthday cake
About this Cook
I live in a teeny tiny small town - in the very picturesque upper valley of New Hampshire with my husband, 2 children, 11, 4 and our 2 dogs.
My favorite things to cook
I love to grill steaks. We purchased a beauty of a VT Castings grill a few years back - and that's where you'll find me! On the off chance I'm not outside grilling - I'm with George Foreman - I am hooked on his next generation grill!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's tastebuds are quite a challenge to please. Grilled steak and chicken breasts are the usual staple with salad, pasta or rice. My 11 yo daughter doesn't like foods that have more than 2 visible ingredients or with sauce (including pizza!!!) My 4 yo son is still tuning his eating habits - he'll have left over burgers or steak with croutons and string cheese for breakfast!!! So, needless to say - the only tradition we have is popcorn on most evenings.
My cooking tragedies
I tend to have a lot going on when I am preparing meals - last summer I put a corelle platter on a stove burner that I thought was off. I was lucky to have been the only one in the kitchen at that time, and not standing too close to the stove, because it blew apart like shrapnel - millions of hot, razor sharp pieces flew in all direction!

Homemade Mac and Cheese
My daughter has been asking me for weeks to make Mac & Cheese for her - it's a simple enough request, but not while on crutches after foot surgery! Can't wait to try this simple version.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting
Wow! I really liked this frosting - it was easy and SO yummy - the peanut butter flavor was not overpowered by the sugar. It was a great compliment to my husband's chocolate birthday cake. Thank you!

Easy Ice Cream Cake
This cake was SO easy and fun to make - and eat! I tweaked the recipe just a bit and added crushed mint fudge grahams between the layers and frosted the cake with softened vanilla ice cream and whipped cream mixed together to make a yummy frosting. I cannot wait to make it again for my husband's birthday.
