My favorite things to cook
local foods of all varieties. Fresh vegetables and fruits, pasture-raised meats and poultry, etc. I love making healthier versions of dishes that cater to our gluten-free, dairy-free, and mostly low-carb diet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
From scratch cooking when possible with southern inspiration! Grew up eating foods fresh out of the garden.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade Red Velvet Cake. It's horrible for you, sinfully delicious, and a real challenge to make - but I successfully (I think) made one from scratch for a family member.
My cooking tragedies
I've had difficulty with low-carbohydrate baking. The ratio of coconut flours to other gluten-free flours is tricky.

Eggplant Parmesan II
I loved this dish - it was delicious. It was a two person job to cook this and was time consuming. My boyfriend wasn't even able to eat it - he didn't like the combination of flavors.

Brown Sugar Banana Nut Bread I
This recipe was delicious. The changes I made were to make it a healthier. I substituted 1 cup of Whole Wheat Flour, added a half cup of organic rolled oats, and drizzled honey over the top and sprinkled with cinnamon while still were. Served after refrigerated - it tastes better chilled!
