Born in PA, and living in Fayetteville, AR. I am a husband/cook of almost 2 years and am always looking for ways to tame the beast that is my wife's tummy. How think people can eat so much I will never know.
My favorite things to cook
I love low-fat/healthy Italian dishes. If I can substitute the heavy cream, whole milk, and butter with something less fatty but still tasty, I am game.
I am also a year-round grill cook. I have been known to be barbecuing pork chops in the snow.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like summer cookouts the best. My birthday is on the 4th of July so I have always associated the summer cookout with birthdays and family.
My cooking triumphs
I have yet to meet anyone who does not come to crave my homemade spaghetti. Sorry though, the recipe is a family secret, and to my knowledge, I am one of two family members who knows it.
My cooking tragedies
My mom once asked me to put a meatloaf in the oven on "warm." I had just come home from school, read the not and turned the oven on. The way that oven dial read, the "warm" lettering was a little bit behind the off position...right next to the 650 degree setting. So I turned the oven on to what I thought was "warm," put the meatloaf in, and took a nap. my mom came home to a smoke filled house as a result of the charred meatloaf. Though my father initially tried to take a bite, I was soon sent off to McDonalds to purchase the family's supper for the evening. We also had NO luck cleaning the ruined casserole dish that housed what was once a tasty-looking un-baked meatloaf. Sigh.
