About this Cook
Having lived in New Orleans for about 17 yrs, I have learned a lot -- not only about cooking, but about savoring the process and enjoying life in general.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes (hence my addiction to this site). I would say I look mostly for main dishes to feed my family of 7-8 (depending who is here).

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo
Was a bit bland as written, but a couple dashes of Tony's made a big difference. Because I used uncooked shrimp, I sauteed those first in butter/garlic till pink. Sprinkled liberally with Tony's before I cooked. Removed from pan, started pasta water. Meanwhile, in same shrimp pan, added 1.5 cups of low-fat half n half, a T of water/cornstarch, more Tony's, and shredded Parmesan along the way. Added a splash of white wine, too. After it reduced, I added the fettuccine and then the shrimp. Green onions and/or shallots would've been a nice addition, too. Thanks for the recipe!!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream
The flavor was pretty good. However, the cream curdled which made for an unappetizing presentation. I followed the recipe exactly except for draining the fat off the sausage. Maybe that had something to so with it, not sure.

Chicken Stir-Fry
Enjoyed this recipe very much -- thanks, Katie KS! As others have noted, you can easily customize it to whatever protein/veggies you have on hand. The real star is the sauce. However, I reduced the soy sauce to 1/2 cup and I still think it was a little too salty -- even with my reduced-sodium soy sauce (but I also didn't have enough rice.)
