I made two batches of this for Christmas this year; the first batch didn't turn out so well, but I think the butter wasn't quite soft enough (the dough was really crumbly and didn't come together), the second batch was perfect. Both batches tasted fantastic; I made one batch with raspberry, strawberry and apricot jam (about 60 cookies), and the other batch I added rum extract and used butter-tart filling instead of jam. Great recipe, going in the recipe box and sure to become an annual favourite!

Traditional Springerle

I was so daunted to make this... my fiance had made these beautiful wooden moulds so I could make these cookies for Christmas this year, and I was afraid to use them. I decided to make a preliminary batch this weekend, just to see if I could do it without embarassing myself. They turned out BEAUTIFULLY. They're almost too pretty to eat, but of course you must try them, and are they ever good!!! I love them with Chai tea. I'll be making another batch for the holidays, and will post pictures next time!

Rolled Fondant

I was very pleased with how this turned out. I used it to decorate my second batch of petit fours, and it looked fantastic. I was a little concerned with the first little cake I did, the fondant didn't seem to want to sit right on it. I had a little extra buttercream frosting left over from the filling, and used it to sort of bond the fondant to the cake. Extremely tasty, easy to make and use, will definitely use again!

Challah I

I've never made a loaf of bread before in my life, and when I served this with dinner, I looked like some sort of ridiculous expert breadmaker! I didn't have any honey on hand, so I used 1/2 cup of sugar with a little extra water so as to not throw off the consistency of the mixture.
