Honey Lime Fruit Salad

Fabulous recipe. Can't say anything really bad, other then 1. I don't carry pine nuts in my house 2. it's just as well about the pine nuts, I don't like them anyway, so I needed that crunch so I replaced the the nuts with slivered almonds. Worked well. Flavor was great, recipe was simple, in the end my family was happy too. TY

Zebra Cake III

I recently watched a video here on allrecipes about how this recipe came about. I totally set out to make it when I came across the chocolate wafer cookies. What a great and easy plea-z recipe. While I thought the vanilla extract was just a tad to much, that's fine because after it sits and melds with the cookies. It should mellow out some. Thanks for sharing this way. I love making fresh whip topping.

Pimiento Potato Salad

We loved this salad....I am soo picky about potato salad that I usually do my own recipe and never try anyone else's. There I said it ;-) So this recipe was a first for me. Having said that. I increased the serving size in the recipe to 8 servings exactly and there is a down fall to this but I was okay with it when I could correct it for what or how we like potato salad. The recipe with the ingredients was very runny and mildly soupy for potato salad. But the flavor was fabulous. SO I had to boil 5 more potatoes and add them to the recipe so that it didn't look like colorful mash potatoes with a few chunks floating in mix. I can tell you, their was probably 12 cups of cooked potatoes..for an 8 serving modification. I will make again. But know as a reminder, we like thick chunky potatoe salad. I didn't change any of the other ingredients, just had to add more potatoes. But again...we loved the flavors.

Butterscotch Fruit Salad

TOTALLY loved! I was really surprised with this recipe. 1st, I wasn't sure about adding peanuts & pineapple. 2nd, was if my kids would love it and it being a waste. Which it wasn't. I'll make this again and see how it tastes without the pineapple. But 3 of my children really loved it. 3rd-ly, I made fresh whip topping and added a whip topping stabilizer so that, my whip topping wasn't runny when combined. I think that was a better fit for what I was going for because the pudding really thickened up everything. Will keep this recipe in rotation with other fruited dishes. TY. Will make again.

Ice Cream Cone Treats

While a fun treat to make(totally forgot to rate this months ago). My kids loved the whole fake out ice cream cone...and always look to me to make something different. I will give this note out to others. Warning....waffle cones and colored cones are not exceptable for this recipe....as someone that tried them. they warped and sagged and were not appealing to the eye ;-) Oh it was bad. Stick with the plain and original cones, they are the best. And note: the recipe here...leaves off the cones as part of the recipe....which is important.

Nice icing, very soft and spreadable...be careful!! Will spread more then expected if you don't watch it. I used this recipe to top lemon lime cupcakes. made a nice touch. Now will make this on some other cakes too.

Lemon-Lime Cupcakes

Okay soo I had to make these. But I was disappointed by the look of the cupcakes, they were flat looking. No puffy round top. They all seem to spread like a wafer cookie on the top of the pan and crust up. When making the 1st tray, I used the square muffin pan, sprayed liberally with non-stick spray(well~they stuck)...and every one wouldn't come out at all. All had to be dug out. So I then made sure that all the rest of the cupcakes were done in paper liners...And they were fine but did the same as tray I made...they rose to the top of the liners and spread out like wafers...and again stuck. They sure weren't pretty. They sprang back & had great flavor. I am not sure if adding baking soda & salt would have helped but it might be something I'd consider another go around. And less whipping. Because like I said....they were flat. The taste was wonderful. Topped with a pineapple cream cheese icing.

Red-Neck Turtle Burgers

Great use, and fun idea for burgers. Please take this advice....do not put on the grill...BIG mistake, the cheese lite my grill on fire! But putting them in the oven after they got to flaming was a better way to go! My family really enjoyed the burgers, but they were huge! I didn't hear any complaints at all. TY

Lower-Fat Coleslaw

While I love the idea of a lower-fat coleslaw...this recipe is a good base for add on's. The recipe was easy to follow, quick to put together. But where I found lacking, is spice. While it had a zip, it didn't have that flavor I traditionally love in coleslaws. You will have to build with your own selections of spices to get it to the level of pizzazz. I needed black pepper, celery seed and celery salt. As written, again a good base for lower-fat, just needs more umph.

Prosciutto e Melone (Italian Ham and Melon)

I love love love, Prosciutto & Cantaloupe. Tried it a few years ago on a Cruise from New York to Canada. And requested from the 1st night all the way to the last. I noticed, that one reviewer said, it was slimey and rated it poorly. My experience is if the combination is slimey, then not very good quality of fruit or meat. And possibly left the morsels out to long at room temperature. Suggestion would be to place them on a plate over a bed of ice to keep them cool. Because it shouldn't be slimey at all. However, this does not last very long with my 3 girls and myself. I find that one small package of prisciutto(that comes with 6 slices) and half of a large cantalope goes a long way. At least that's how it worked when I made the recipe. But tasty to say the least. The prosciutto is not salty at all and if you have a juicy ripen sweet melon, the pairing is great. Will make again, especially in the summer months when cantaloupe is at it's best.. TY

Grilled Cod

This was excellent! However, my fish wasn't that great for grilling. My problem lies with being frozen cod, that I got from Fred Meyer/Kroger...and when I opened the bag after it thawed...it was fish floating in a lot of water. And my fish was alreaady crumbly. And was falling apart in the grilling process. So now I know what NOT to buy, the other thing was, I over seasoned my fish using almost all the seasoning the recipe made, and my fish was spicy. While my husband and daughter were screaming for more....I was grabbing for a bit of milk. I liked it but wasn't prepared for the heat. Other then that. I can totally make again! The seasoning can go along way, possibly 4 nice size fillets.

Grilled Glazed Salmon

I love a good salmon, any day. Having said that. We didn't like the sweet aspect to the grilled fish. Not in the least. Nor the overly vinegar taste either. I followed to a T as instructed and barely basted. But it still had that sweet taste that really was off putting for both my husband and I...he said had it not had the splenda on it nor so much vinegar, he might have enjoyed it better. Sorry, it won't be made again.

Tortellini Picnic Salad

Fanstatic! I am always leary about pasta salads...not sure why, just am. Myself & my girls totally loved this recipe. I can't really say I did things differently, I did stick to the recipe, but as I only had Tomato & Basil Feta and a 4.25oz can chopped olives, I used them & removed the seeds from the tomatoes before chopping. Follow the recipe to a T. At 1st I thought the white vinegar was going to over power the ingredients but I was totally wrong. This recipe worked, there was a pleasant and nice zing of flavor & my use of the seasoned Feta I had...did enhance the recipe thoroughly. I seriously doubt, I will use plain feta in the recipe at all. I totally will make again and Will look for the Tri-colored cheese tortellini for the next round. Can't say anything bad about the recipe....and surprisingly..the walnuts work too! Go figure. TY TY!

Grilled Pineapple

Sorry. I didn't like this recipe at all. My pineapple was super juicy and sweet prior to making the recipe. When placed on the grill, it flared up fast and nearly burnt. After tasting it. We all agreed, it sort of had a weird taste and wasn't good. The grill marks didn't add but burnt flavor.

BBQ Feta and Hot Banana Pepper Turkey Burgers

Sorry. I wanted to like this. But it wasn't for me. I think it was the peppers. I love all the ingredients but I didn't like the way it turned out for me. The 1st batch was a completed disaster....all burgers were soo soft on the grill....the crumbled right threw the grate when I tried to flip them. Oh I was so upset. Tried a 2nd time. And that's when I found that the peppers where too overwhelming for me. I liked the feta. Don't think I'll make this combination of a recipe again.

No Bake Cookies III

I really really liked this recipe. I purposely set out to use this recipe, to make it on a Memorial day cake display. And it was perfect. I did do 1 thing different but it really was for cosmetic reasons, not for preferred taste or "it was what I had on hand" reasons either. I used only half the oats in the recipe but added rice crisp cereal to it. Because, I was making fake-out hamburger patties and wanted more of a bumpy look. It worked out great. The flavor was still good and I enjoyed eating it, very much. TY The recipe stood up to my food gag, as planned. And now it will be my go-to recipe to continue the food gag for other preps in the future.

White Texas Sheet Cake

Honestly, I don't understand why I kept trying to get this recipe right. At 1st I thought it was my flour, so I had run and get more. 4x I tried to get this right. No luck. And it didn't even taste right after I finally got it correct. Sorry. I wished it was all my error, but I make loads of cakes weekly by scratch and it didn't work for me at all. Sorry

Amish Peanut Butter

This is a decent recipe. Simple, easy and quick. While I didn't think it was too sweet and the marshmallow creme didn't stand out, but the peanut butter was also very light. It's a total go back and dip your finger in it again type of recipe, that you should totally watch ;-) But it spreads very quickly and all over the place if your not watching. And you'll have a mess everywhere. I can see me making again and tweaking a bit to get it from being super runny to a more spreadable fashion. I think the amount of corn syrup is a bit overwhelming on the runny-ness factor. I did like the flavor but felt it needed to be increased on the peanut butter flavor. I think the corn syrup needs to be decreased and the peanut butter and marshmallow creme needs to be increased.

Tri-Color Pepper Slaw

I tried this recipe 3x. Fresh ingredients all the way. For some reason. The balsamic vinagrette was nasty. I thought darn, bottle is bad even while in date. Went and exchanged it for another brand, same style of dressing. Same problem. I love love all the ingredients, but didn't like the balsamic vinaigrette with my fresh veggies. I really don't know what to say. Sorry. Maybe a different dressing or half of what is suggested in the recipe.

Pork Marinade

My family really really enjoyed the pork steaks I used to make this recipe. I ground mustard seeds to make the dry mustard(because I didn't have any powder), also made a quick fix Chili Sauce recipe from here(since I didn't have any either) But followed the recipe with making accomendations. As I thought the recipe was decent and fairly good. I could have used something added to break the sweetness up. My opinion, a little soy sauce. But otherwise, it is a nice base.
