The title got ya?! Yeah, me too ;-) I totally went there. Butter is rather sexy and funny.
You know. There is soo much to be said about butter. It's light, silky smooth, some times sweet & delicate or sweet & slightly salty but either way, the stuff makes you drool. The very being of butter just makes me want to melt.....okay I had to say that.

Butter touches each one of us in some special way, when we talk about food & fond memories. I don't think you can tell me a straight response about butter, without having some sort of luscious feeling inside that comes over you when you talk about it. I mean come on...Butter is the next best sexiest thought, just like giving a kiss to your special romantic person in your life....you can entice the very core of intermost feelings associated with what you'd like to do with butter....I'm trying to leave this PG people. But let your imagination run with the very thought of it
Let your imagination take you to a place where you just spent an hour & a half making a nice..fresh....hoooott.. loaf of banana bread. The kind with the split on the top that has a bite of gooey-ness to it, and you can't wait for it to cool down, so you grab a knife, slice of the very thick piece off & go for the butter. Running your knife along the top & watching it curl up on your knife, and then spread that soft butter over your steaming hot slice of bread, you hold in your hand. And watch the butter melt, ever soo slowly & as you put it up to your mouth, you can feel the warmth of the bread, the salty sweet creamy butter that just hits every taste bud from the tip of your tongue to the back of your throat. Where it makes your chest fill with warmth & it sends flashes of red to your brain & makes you just melt with delight, as you say....OH sweet mother of God..mmm mmmmmm! ......that's what I'm talking about!

Then when you & your love one, in my case my husband. Are talking about food, and he's standing in the kitchen, watching you melt butter in a pan & stirring in fresh ingredients to top his oh so thick grilled steak. Layering that buttery goodness on top, served with some creamy mashed potatoes...you know, his mouth was watering just from the site of it & he is trying patiently to wait, while his foot is nervously tapping the floor, and quietly saying...give it too me!!....I'm dying over here!!. And the moment he cuts his steak, and forks the sauteed veggies & runs the bite to his mouth....he's saying. HEAVEN, thank you. hahaha, I know I've won with my husband when he turns around & gives me a buttery kiss to thank me for his delicious plate.

See, see what butter can do to you. Shame on butter!!! Shame shame. But people do some funny things with butter. And I've seen some doozies! Butter molds, shaped as people or shaped as other foods, it's stink'in funny. I have one good memory of butter.

And on a funnier side....like mine growing up is one of the best memories I could ever have in my life, with my mom & my Nana. Hands down. I have a lot of memories that are way to special. But it's one that I thought I was going to poop my pants over. My momma knows just what I'm talking about to. My Nana, always called my mom, Sug or Sugar. Mom's nickname was also Muffin. Her name is Zeondra...which I find pretty, but that's me...anyway back to Sug. Anytime, we sat down to dinner in this little kitchen with the dining room table stuck between the bar and the wall to the washer and dryer, it was always, butt to butt & close nit. My sister & I were really young & when I saw this particular memory, we must have been 7 & 10. My mom would know better about the ages, but anyway....Nana would always load up her mess, that's what she called her pile of food. Piled it up like a mountain because she said it all went into one place anyway, she then would pray & ask the Lord for forgiveness for what she was about to do, then eat...well Nana, always had this phase she'd say when she asked mom to butter her bread for her, as she was piling her mess up on her plate. And it's a phase I miss dearly. One that brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. It's that kind of fond memory, that I have cherished my whole life. And has touched me more ways then one when I think of butter. So after years & years of this phase being shot across to my mom....she took action. And did something, we never saw coming. So this catch phase, was "Butter me Sug"... that's right. No lie. And I've never heard anyone else say it but Nana. That's the way she address momma at every meal, to put butter on her bread. Nana was a country bumpkin & the best classy southern redneck woman ever! Could fish like nobody's business.

So when I say take action, mom SERIOUSLY took action. Mendi(little sis) & I were sitting at the bar eating our dinner, when I hear Nana say, "Butter me Sug" as always, and held her arm out with a slice of bread in her hand. Mom grabbed a huge slab of butter out of the tub, grabbed my Nana's arm, and proceeded to smear butter up AND down her forearm....I know my mouth dropped just like Nana's...she dropped her head & proceeded to inhale, while mom tried to keep a straight face. And all of us staring in shock at what had just happened. I know Dad, Papa...Mendi & I surely thought Nana was going to jump up & get mom for what she did....but as she raised her head, you could hear this deep, "Awwww!" and laughter coming out of her mouth, she totally thought it was hysterical...I thought mom was going to run for the hills, but she said, "I can't believe I just did that!" They were laughing so bad, that eye glasses were coming off & wiping away all the tears that proceeded to follow. Still laughing, momma grabbed a towel & wiped off Nana's arm & said "I always wanted to do that". While all of us were laughing along with them, there probably wasn't a dry eye at the table. What a stint momma did to Nana. After all these years, knowing my Nana & my mom...I would have never thought in my early years as a young kid, momma would have done something like that either. But it goes to show you, that there was love & endearment and a bond not just between them as a mother & daughter..but they were best friends with a sense of humor, but now they were bonded over butter. And it always makes me smile. I wished she was still here today. We still had plenty of memories after that, but a few short years later, Nana passed away from Lung Cancer.
To this day, it's been one of the most fondest memories I have of her & momma together. I, from time to time, share this same memory with my children when buttering their bread with dinner. And I know momma had shared this memory with all the grandkids too. And just like family & butter, keep them in your life. With butter...you to can make memories too.

With all this being said. Check out goboldwithbutter.com ,

About Me
I'm an active mom of 4 and married the love of my life. I'm a full~time certified care giver, part~time food blogger @ http://the7upexperience.com , avid & obsessed novice photographer. I love allrecipes and pretty much an addict. I'm also a new member to Banana Belt Photography Club that's local to my community, and an Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador. And have stamped allrecipes on me for life. The site has opened up my eyes to so much more then just recipes. I'm proud to be a member of this site and my love, passion & learning other recipes from other valued members has really broaden my horizens.
My favorite things to cook
Asian, Mexican, Multi-cultured foods, Low-fat, Low-sugar, Stews, casseroles, slow cooker meals and baking......Everything!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Funny but true: Cooking traditions men sit in the recliner and women in the kitchen...lol My family is always in the kitchen. My sister and her family, my parents and my family celebrate Christmas in January. Due to distance and work related jobs. Every year we plan what we are having ahead of time. Our tradition is usually food we've had abroad growing up overseas. Normally with Asia influences. It's always a special treat when we normally don't make the dishes often throughout the year.
My cooking triumphs
Unknown to me when I came up with a chicken and dumpling recipe of my own, my father was floored & delighted and told me it tasted just like his mother's.......My mom dropped her jaw because it was better then her's. It's a staple with my husband and kids.
My cooking tragedies
I had found a recipe for a Pretzel Pie(like Pecan Pie), thought it looked good and I didn't follow the recipe when it said unsalted pretzels. I just grabbed the normal stuff with the salt on it, made the pie, and my dad and husband were painting with thrist. And making weird pickle sour expressions, when I realized the pie was over salted. Oopppss! I never made it again.
