Cupcakes Cupcakes and More Cupcakes......

I've been noticing that there is a trend going on here lately. I'm in the cupcake mood, I can see others are too. Cupcakes are soo portable. So easy to say here, have a cup cake, verses.....pulling out a cake and slicing it, and then serving it with a fork and a plate and what have ya. Then having to wash the plate and the fork and you get the picture....Don't get me wrong. I love making cakes.....with a cupcake, grab a napkin, peel the paper off the side and dig in with it in your hand. But you'd think it would be less messy...well sort of is. But I like cupcakes because you can give each little cake, it's own needed attention, each one not exactly the same BUT close. Each one gets dressed in pretty frosting, and sprinkled with little colors for flair. To say "HEY!!! Look at me, ya know you want one!!" I find that with my kids being in school making up a batch of cupcakes and surprising them with a new way I've decorated them when they get home. Makes them coming home extra special after having a long drooling day at school. And the youngest always saying.....oh pity!!!(translation---Oh Pretty!!!)  My kids are always excited about me doing that for them. Spoiling them with sweet treats...yeah, I do. But at least I make it fun and interesting. How about you?

Redneck Gramma, I'm with you! Cupcake envy... mis7up and Lynna, I'm so jealous, first of being able to decorate so beautifully and second being able to take great pictures. Neither of which is a talent of mine (sigh).

I can't ice anything smaller than a sheet cake but I am more than happy to help eat a sheet cake's worth of cupcakes.

I noticed in one of the photos a Andes Mints. We cannot get these in Canada. I bought 30 boxes the last time I was in the states at a Walgreens. We made brownies and cookies from a recipe on the internet (they were wonderful). Great idea incorporating them on the cupcake, maybe put them in the batter next time?

I love your decorating! I need some advice, can I freeze the cupcakes AFTER I frost them? And what would be the best vanilla icing that's not too sweet that I can use? I'm new to baking & icings so feel a bit lost. Thanks in advance

WOW! These cupcakes look divine! I'm thinking about baking a batch now :) I hope this isn't too intrusive but I was hoping you can give me some advice. I would love to take photos like you but can't seem to get it right. If I'm asking for too much I completely understand. If not...what light source, aperture, focus and Iso do you use? Again, I LOVE your photos :)

Thanks all. Been on vacation out of the country...hmm Morti, I've never frozen cupcakes that have been frosted...I've frozen them before the I honestly can't answer that. So Sorry, but Decorator's Frosting from the site is excellent for a vanilla icing, I sometimes will put in vanilla bean. And JJRsMomma, I play around with my camera alot, I've been using a lot of just natural light. Using my CA field and let it auto adjust with a 18-55mm lens. The ISO is usually set at 200, I'll forget to change it when I step outside and my photos well be dark and it all the time. But when I do a table top light box, I use the portable table lights that came with my lightbox and set my camera for flurescent lightening because that's what is installed in my house and again, ISO is normally 200-400 speed and again metered on CA on automatic adjustments....But I'm still learning. Once I figure out something, I try and keep up the pace with the same thing I do prior. I'm no expert, but will be after I get my degree in Photography.

About Me
I'm an active mom of 4 and married the love of my life. I'm a full~time certified care giver, part~time food blogger @ , avid & obsessed novice photographer. I love allrecipes and pretty much an addict. I'm also a new member to Banana Belt Photography Club that's local to my community, and an Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador. And have stamped allrecipes on me for life. The site has opened up my eyes to so much more then just recipes. I'm proud to be a member of this site and my love, passion & learning other recipes from other valued members has really broaden my horizens.
My favorite things to cook
Asian, Mexican, Multi-cultured foods, Low-fat, Low-sugar, Stews, casseroles, slow cooker meals and baking......Everything!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Funny but true: Cooking traditions men sit in the recliner and women in the My family is always in the kitchen. My sister and her family, my parents and my family celebrate Christmas in January. Due to distance and work related jobs. Every year we plan what we are having ahead of time. Our tradition is usually food we've had abroad growing up overseas. Normally with Asia influences. It's always a special treat when we normally don't make the dishes often throughout the year.
My cooking triumphs
Unknown to me when I came up with a chicken and dumpling recipe of my own, my father was floored & delighted and told me it tasted just like his mother's.......My mom dropped her jaw because it was better then her's. It's a staple with my husband and kids.
My cooking tragedies
I had found a recipe for a Pretzel Pie(like Pecan Pie), thought it looked good and I didn't follow the recipe when it said unsalted pretzels. I just grabbed the normal stuff with the salt on it, made the pie, and my dad and husband were painting with thrist. And making weird pickle sour expressions, when I realized the pie was over salted. Oopppss! I never made it again.
