Soft and Buttery Sugar Cookies
About this Cook
I am a Mommy of three boys. I love to cook and bake and my kids love to work in the kitchen with me. I love sharing with them my love of baking and creating fantastic foods and hope that someday they will be even more proficient in the kitchen as I am! I also have a love of anything pink and my most valued posession is my pink kitchenaid!
My favorite things to cook
I will try to make just about anything once but my absolute favorite thing to make is my sugar cookies. I love rolling them out and creating fun shapes to decorate with my kids! I also love trying out new gourmet recipes. My husband is not a gourmet fan but his littlest brother is always willing to try anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am a huge fan of anything Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I love working on family recipes with kids in the kitchen. Our personal favorites are sourdough stuffing(my great grandma's delicious recipe) and sweet potato casserole. And of course the boys and I do the turkey every year!
My cooking triumphs
My first triumph was when I made my best friends birthday cake from scratch when I was 17. It was such a hit people started asking me to make cakes for them. That was the first time I realized I may have a knack for baking! I would say my greatest triumph though was when I tweaked a boring sugar cookie recipe to make it my own and it wound up becoming famous around here. Now it's not a holiday if I don't make sugar cookies in multiple batches! A double batch might last part of a day so I have to make 'em quick!!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried making pasta primavera, it looked so ugly no one would even try it! My brother teased me and called me the Queen of Food Poisoning(even though know one even tasted it!). I proved him wrong later that week by trying a Martha Stewart recipe for roasted whole chicken and baby potatos with lemon and rosemary-he ate that chicken till there was nothing left to pick off the bones!

Pear Honey
I loved this recipe! It tasted like my Grandma's and was a piece of cake compared to other fruit honey recipes! It definitely takes a while to make though so set aside a few hours. I made a bigger batch and did 12 Cups Pears, 2/3 Cup Pineapple Juice, and 12 Cups Sugar and it turned out great. I also took some advice from one of the previous reviews and cooked it on a lower setting for three hours and I didn't have a problem with it burning. It's not quite as thick as regular honey, but it comes close and is thicker than my Grandma's recipe. I will definitely use this recipe again! I can't wait to make some home made bread now to go with!

Chicken and Sun-Dried Tomato Bruschetta
I made this bruschetta for a lunch with a friend and we both agreed it was interesting at best. Neither of us cared for the sun dried tomatoes in it and agreed it would be a wonderful recipe with fresh chopped tomatoes in place of the sun dried variety. I will try the recipe again without the sun dried tom's next time.
