Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
4 stars for taste (very good) and an extra star for being so easy. I basically followed the directions but for the following: I started w/ frozen chicken breasts and just shredded it once it was done. I subbed chix broth for water (next time I will cut back on the salt to balance it). i used diced tomatoes , not whole peeled. I skipped the chile peppers b/c of the kids......but next time I will just use rotel. Added one can black beans. Next time i will also add an extra cup of broth and adjust the spices accordingly. It needs more broth.

Sweet and Sour Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I loved it. I followed the directions but left out the pimento pepper. You maybe able to cut the sugar or use sweetner substitute. I mixed it up about 4 hrs. b/f serving so it could soak into the slaw. I did have a little extra dressing pooling at the bottom of the bowl...either add more slaw or drain. Again, loved it but my hubby only thought it was okay. However, when it comes to food, we have very different tastes. i like sweet and he is all about salt.

Slow Cooker Marmalade Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
I liked it. Super easy and a lot of flavor. I used apricot preserves b/c I did not have marmalade. It was not too sweet for me, I do have a sweet tooth. I found the spices were fine but i may add a little more cayenne pepper next time. I cooked it on low for about 4 hours and than shredded it in the crockpot. i let it cook about 1 more hour at low. I always shredd crockpot chicken so it does not dry out and is not bland. I would like to try adding the coconut milk but my husband hates it and I really do not need the extra calories.

Authentic German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
I grew up on a slighly different version of german potato salad and this new verison is better. The sugar adds a little sweetness that works great. I could not stop eating this.....the only thing is it is much 'wetter' than what I expected. It did not look great but tasted amazing. I am going to boil up a few extra potatos and add them in.

Feta Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Okay, but too rich for me. I used light mayo but 1 cup may be overkill. Also, I left out the pimentos and gr. onions b/c I did not have them on hand. I will stick to regular artichoke dip. I was hoping the feta would make it taste greek but it just made it really salty.

Napa Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Great!!! It made too much dressing and too much crunchies. However, I will solve problem by adding extra cole slaw mix since 4 adults polished off the entire salad in about 10 minutes.

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
It was great. I made it twice, the first time I upped the cumin...bad idea. The second time I stuck to the directions but went w/ a slightly less Salsa and it was awesome. I use chicken broth. Easy, tasty and healthy-a rare combo.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Very good. I skipped the lime juice and gr. chilies b/c I did not have them. I added a can of black beans and corn. I loved it, but it is rich. My hubby did not like it but he dislikes any food w/ creamy sauce.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
I'm not that into it but every time I serve it, folks love it. I used to dislike making it b/c wrapping little dogs in bacon was messy and time consumming. Now, instead of wrapping the dog in bacon, I just toothpick a blanket across the top. Much easier and uses a lot less bacon. Noone seems to notice. Great for events w/ kids.

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Great base recipe. I made it once w/ beef and another time w/ turkey and both were very good. I used 1 can rotel diced tomatoes w/chiles and 1 can tomatoe sauce b/c i had no soup. I added about 1/2 c of water. I used a whole onion and a gr. pepper. You can play w/ the recipe based on what you have on hand. The taste is 4 stars but I bumped it up to 5 stars b/c it is easy and healthy.

Bryan's Sweet and Hot Tomato Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I love this sauce. The only sauce that my husband and i both like. I add lean ground turkey and splendid brown sugar and it is still great. I serve over whole wheat pasta and hubby barely notices. Tasty, easy and healthy-very rare combo. i make once a week.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

I have tried a lot of casseroles and like this the best. I did add 2 extra eggs and used both italian sweet and hot sausage. It was even good as leftovers, which is rare for an egg casserole.

Adobo Chicken with Ginger

A nice change of pace and easy. I used corn starch to thicken the gravy. Also, I used chicken breast b/c it was all I had. I think it would have turned out better if I used dark meat on the bone.
