Easy Cola Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
This recipe was just ok. It took way longer than 50 minutes for our chicken to cook and the flavor really didn't permeate the chicken. Ended up taking the foil off after the 50 minutes and increasing the oven temperature and there was still too much liquid to give it a nice caramelized finish like the picture shows. The sauce was very good made into a gravy though. I'll probably do that again but actually cook the chicken differently.

Old-World Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
This soup wasn't bad but it wasn't very memorable either. We were hoping for something with a little more zing. Made it exactly per the recipe.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
We absolutely love this recipe. Have been making it with variations now for almost a year. We enjoy including chopped jalapeno and red bell peppers for a little more flavor, but its very good as written too.

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
One of my all time favorite All Recipes finds! This is really great exactly as written and you can add any of your favorite greek flavors that aren't already included to make it your own. It is in our regular rotation, especially in the spring and summer.

Chicken with Asparagus and Roasted Red Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This was a really great recipe! Served it to a couple of my girlfriends with French Baguette slices on the side and everyone loved it. I did add extra garlic and balsamic, started the chicken with cooking spray instead of the broth, and had to roast my own peppers because I didn't have any jarred. The flavors are spot on. I think next time I will probably double the veggies and broth and probably quadruple the balsamic. There was plenty of chicken to go around but we all could have done with another helping of the veggies. Fabulous!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
This is a really good recipe. I've made it a few times and folks always love it. Of course like many others, I've won a chili cook-off with a variation on this recipe and will continue to use it in the future. A couple of things I always change on this recipe is: Add 1 tbsp ground coriander to brighten the flavor, Use extra bacon (about 3x the recommended amount, leave out the celery, and add about 30% more tomato in the form of additional diced tomato or crushed tomato with puree. I've also made this recipe vegetarian by omitting the meat and beef bouillon and adding italian seasoning, vegetable bouillon, 50% more beans (and diversifying the types), a little more sugar to cut the tartness of the tomatoes, and 1 cup of bulgar wheat toward the end for heartiness. The result is a very good vegetarian (maybe even vegan?) chili.

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
Definitely quick with plenty of flavor, but really just average compared to most of the other easy black bean soup recipes out there. Also, definitely turned out thick, even though followed the recipe entirely except for leaving about 1/2 a can of beans whole, rather than pureeing them all. I might make some variation on it again, but I wasn't wowed like I feel I should be for a 4.5 star recipe.

Grilled Lemon Chicken

The flavor was okay, but needed some depth which just wasn't there.

Couscous with a Kick!

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
Very good, my husband loved this, I thought it was pretty good. Made just as stated, but didn't have quite the right amount of feta, so just added what I had. We made this with blackened tilapia and it was a great healthy meal. Between the Cayenne and the jalapeño it is VERY spicy, but we liked spicy, so it worked for us.

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Thank you for the idea. I really didn't follow the recipe too closely. Used a low fat cornbread recipe and turkey cheddar sausages and jalapeños but left out the onions, celery, and sage. Still really great and never would have done it without having seen this recipe, so thank you!

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
Pretty good recipe. I used turkey kielbasa instead of pork, 1% milk, and light butter to lighten it up a bit. I'll probably make this again. My husband didn't really care for it, but he usually doesn't much care for creamy soups.

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
If you like a veg heavy, tomatoey Pasta Fagioli this is a good recipe for you. It was tasty enough and I might make this again, but I would probably make quite a few changes. It wasn't as savory as Pasta Fagioli typically is. I also like mine more creamy and this definitely ins't a creamy soup, very tomatoey (I expected as much, but still a definite point for why I wasn't particularly happy with it). If you want a creamy and/or savory Pasta Fagioli, this isn't your recipe.

Peppermint Punch

This was pretty good, but overly sweet for most of our party goers tastes. It did turn out a pretty pink color though, and went well with the decorations and christmas cookies we had out.

Parrothead Salad

We really enjoyed this salad. Only things we would change are using grapes instead of raisins and we didn't care for the red onion in the recipe and would leave it out next time.

Vegetarian Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2012
Very good veg gravy. I did add another cup of broth to thin it a bit and I like my gravy smooth, so I used a stick blender to process the entire batch and it turned out great. Will definitely be making it again and again.
