Cooking makes me happy! :) My favorite place to be is in the kitchen with my husband and four children. We love to laugh and tell stories as we are making cookies, decorating cupcakes, and making scrumptious meals together.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy making new foods. Anything from crock pot recipes to gourmet entrees. I'm always up for a culinary adventure!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up cooking with my mom and grandmother and aunts on Okinawa, so I love to cook Asian foods. I also learned a lot of gourmet cooking from my dad growing up. I think my favorite family cooking traditions are always on Thanksgiving when we all get together and spend three or four days in the kitchen! And now my husband and I love passing down these traditions to our four children, who are already masters in the kitchen!
My cooking triumphs
My favorite baking memory is when I made my first daughter's one year birthday cake. It was a four layer Dr. Seuss style cake and I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out! Needless to say, she dug into it without hesitation!
My cooking tragedies
Funny story...When my husband and I were first dating, I thought I would cook him a nice homemade meal, so I had baked cornish hen, cheese potatoes, veggies, and a spinach salad. Well, in my nervousness in making the perfect meal, I forgot to rinse off my spinach completely! So, you can imagine my horror when he took a nice big bite of salad with some extra dirt! LOL! We had a good laugh about it - and he still married me even after dirty spinach!
