Tater Tot Hot Dish II

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
I make a similar cassarole: with cheddar between the tots and meat. It's always fantastic, and really easy.

Stuffed Bell Peppers

textured vegetable protien (TVP) is a nice way to say "soy meal" it i sold in higher end and natural foods grocers. TVP is a substitute for ground meat. TVP has a meat-like texture and absorbs liquid and flavor from what it is cooked in.

David's Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2013
Made according to recipe - oh so good!! I HIGHLY recommend this recipe!! But... I was jonesing for really chocolaty choc choc chip cookies. So, I used "Cocoa Crispees" and added 1/2C "Hershey's Special Dark" cocoa powder. I only had dark brown sugar so I omitted the white sugar and doubled the brown sugar... and only had butter-flavored shortening (no unsalted butter for baking) so I used 1C shortening w/o added water. I also tripled the vanilla - 1tbl. I do this standard. The Cookies are sooooooo good! I rolled 1 tbl+/- balls in powdered sugar and placed them onto an ungreased cookie sheet, baked for 5 min rotated and baked for 5 more.

Basic Biscuits

Reviewed: May 12, 2014
I used "refined lard" instead of shortening and self-rising flour instead of AP flour + powder + salt... OMG SOOOOOOOOO good. we made biscuits-with-fresh-berries and stew-dumplings. Both were fantastic.

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
This recipe was so good! I have a few minor tips to add: 1) use "drained" ziccini (shred it and salt it to remove a lot of water then give it a rinse to remove any surface salt) and do not add extra salt to the batter and 2) use a 1/4 cup measure (or smaller!) or disher to measure out the zuccini-batter as it is very soft and easy to flip/fold over onto itself and a smaller patty flips better.
