I'm a stay at home mother who has always loved to cook. To get out of the house when my oldest was a baby, I took a cooking class at a local cooking school and learned a tremendous amount. The class taught me the basics, how to make good stocks and sauces and how to plan and organize.
My favorite things to cook
I don't think I have a favorite item to cook. I love the process of planning the meal then, organizing, chopping, slicing and preparing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love pizza night! I make the dough and sauce while the kids are still in school and then they roll out and make the pizza's. My youngest makes a "pizza snake" everytime. Pizza night is usually followed by homemade popcorn balls and a family movie!
My cooking triumphs
I calmly pulled off a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for 27 that was piping hot and ready the second I said we would eat. Everything was amazingly well done and beautiful. I was quite proud that day!
My cooking tragedies
Too many too count! How about my first dinner party? I worked until 5pm and was having guests at 7pm...I don't think we ate until 10 because I didn't plan well. It never happened again! My biggest disappointment was a birthday cake I made for my mother in law. It was elaborately decorated and took me hours to complete. It fell apart enroute to her home because the frosting melted and the top layer slid off of the bottom layer. What a mess!
