Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
Loved it! Added some cheese and extra seasoning (garlic, salt and pepper). Also did what some suggested as to adding some cubes of potatoe. Family loved it - even my husband who is NOT a soup person. Next time I will add some crumbled bacon.

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
This is definitely a keeper! I use Mountain Dew because never have beer in the house (we don't drink). I also add three tablespoons of melted butter on top before putting it in the oven. I also used the suggested 1/3 cup sugar!

Marinated Pork Loin

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
This turned out great! I was looking for a different marinade, and I just happened to have all the ingredients for this. I did marinate it for three days but that was not planned, however the pork turned out tender and delicious! Thanks!!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I made this recipe twice: The first time I took someone's advice and added 3/4 peanut butter and 1/4 cup applesauce instead of the 1/2 cup oil. This made the texture of the bar like a protein bar. The second time I made it, I added 1/4 c peanut butter and 1/4 c applesauce. I also replaced the raisins with chocolate chips. These were a winner!!! Great recipe!

Aunt Lillian's Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
Awesome crumb cake!! I used the topping suggestion of Naples34102 since my husband does not like nuts or coconut and it seemed a little easier. Also since I live in a high altitude (8,000 above sea level), I think I need to tweak it a little - the cake came out a little dense in the middle and normal on the outer parts- but overall it tasted DELICIOUS!

Ranch-Style Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
prepared this for our memorial Day celebration. I think it turned out great. Did the suggestions of "Farmer's Wife" since I did not have ranch dressing mix and Lin by re-using the egg carton. Will have to edit my review once my guests taste them...I'm sure it will stay 5 stars though

Warm Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
This was so fast and easy and it tastes great! I did not have any sour cream so I used a combination of a little whipped dressing and milk instead. I also excluded the spicy brown mustard (suggestion from someone else) and I added some parmasean cheese!!! It turned out great!!! Thanks for posting!

Broiled Grouper Parmesan

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This was awesome!! I've never cooked Grouper before, but this was easy and delicious. Even the family members who didn't like fish loved this dish. The only problem I had was the timing. It took about 10 minutes to cook and then I had to flip the fish and cooked an additional 3 minutes before adding the parm sauce. It was probably because these were really thick fillets. Either way, this recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks for posting!

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
This was a really quick and easy recipe, and it turned out great. I used Mountain Dew instead of cola and added a touch of onion powder when I salt & peppered it. Quick, easy, and no fancy ingredients! Love it! thanks for posting!

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This is a great recipe. I took the advice of some of the others, and did the following: We added garlic to the butter before adding the veggies; we used half the cream cheese and half sour cream. Unfortunately, we didn't have an entire cup of Parm (we only had about 1/4 to 1/3), but it still turned out great! I can imagine how much better it would have been if we had the entire cup of Parm!!

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
This was a very tasty dish, but for some reason, mine turned out very flat. It blew up like a balloon in the middle of cooking and then deflated just like one. I'm thinking that is has something to do with the High Altitude that I live in (8,000 ft above sea level). I'm giving it five stars because even though it was the weirdest looking quiche I ever saw, it was pretty tasty (and one shouldn't fault the recipe just because of one's altitude ;D)

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
This was a great pizza dough recipe. I have a recipe that works great in a wood stove, but doesn't work so well in an oven, so I went looking and found this one. I did it two ways: The first way is the original way of doing it with the exception of dissolving the yeast and sugar first. I used it in a breakfast pizza and it turned out great. The second way is I took the advice of Cindy76541 and let it rise for 30 minutes while I prepared the toppings. I also kneaded a few times (just because), and did the deep dish thing as Cindy76541 did. It came out great. The one thing I think I will change next time is take the advice of another review which said to use less flour - maybe by 3/4 of a cup. Three cups seemed a bit too much and kept the dough from being "elastic-ish". Dont know if that's the way its supposed to be or if it is because I live in a very high altitude (8,000 ASL). All in all, it turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

Beer Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
This is a great recipe. I usually make my pancakes with bisquick, but when I do not have any, I use this recipe. I use mountain dew instead of beer since we dont drink and never have alcohol in the house. Because of that, I do ease up on the sugar since the soda is loaded with it. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks for posting!

Original Nestle® Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
This is the way MY FAMILY LOVES their cookies. I read some of the reviews where they say that the cookies are too flat, but I think those are the best kinds. My family even perfers to have this WITHOUT the chocolate chips! This is a great recipe! Wouldn't change a thing.

Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
This is a awesome recipe. This is the second recipe I tried for making Biscotti, and EVERYONE loved it. I used 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract instead of the anise, and I also added a touch of cinnamon. In addition, I also dipped it in vanilla glaze. This caused the cookies to soften up a little (I think because I didn't let it cool COMPLETELY), but the majority of the house perfers it that way anyway. 03/09/2010: After making these NUMEROUS times, I decided I like the ORIGINAL way it is presented with the exception of increasing the sugar to 1 1/4 in the batter (discovered this by accident), and adding Chocolate chips. These are ALWAYS a hit!!!!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
OMGosh!! This was awesome!! It was like a cinnamon crumb cake on top of banana bread!!! I took the advice of other bakers and added 1 tsp of cinnamon to the banana bread mix and then used 1/3 cup oil instead of butter. Definitely a keeper!! Thanks for posting!!

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!! This turned out to be such a hit in the house. I also added the parm (lots), garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. After the directed cooking time, I transferred to pan with oil to brown - I should have done this first, but I didn't know that it wouldn't brown the oven. My family loved it - definitely a keeper!

Tuna Fish Special

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
This is a GREAT recipe! My family is very particular, so I did not add the peas, celery or green onions. My husband does not like curry so I substituted the curry with Dijon Mustard. I added one hard boiled egg white chopped up, and then mixed it with some Bowtie pasta so it was served hot. They loved it! Thanks for the recipe!
