Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
Loved it! Added some cheese and extra seasoning (garlic, salt and pepper). Also did what some suggested as to adding some cubes of potatoe. Family loved it - even my husband who is NOT a soup person. Next time I will add some crumbled bacon.

Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
This was sooo simple and sooo good! Didnt change a thing, except I did not have buttermilk so I used 3 tsp lemon juice and added regular milk to make it a cup. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and then use. Yummy! Thanks for submitting!

Ranch-Style Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
prepared this for our memorial Day celebration. I think it turned out great. Did the suggestions of "Farmer's Wife" since I did not have ranch dressing mix and Lin by re-using the egg carton. Will have to edit my review once my guests taste them...I'm sure it will stay 5 stars though

Dijonnaise Chicken

Reviewed: May 18, 2010
This was a very good recipe. I did not have the Dijon Mustartd Mayo blend, so I just mixed Dijon mustard with Miracle whip (about half and half). Next time I will use more Miracle whip. I also did not use the entire 1/4 olive oil - just short of it. I also did not have lemon pepper, so I just used regular pepper. I pounded the chicken prior to cooking and poked it with a fork before pouring the sauce over it. My husband liked it alot, but my daughter wasn't too crazy about the sauce. That is why I will try it next time with more miracle whip - the mustard taste might have been too strong for her. Over all I am keeping this recipe. Simple and good!! thanks for posting!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: May 13, 2010
I think this recipe would have been better if I lived at a more normal altitude. I live at 9,000 ft above sea level and that causes baking to sometimes not turn out the way I would have expected. There was way too much liquid even after letting it sit for a couple of days. The cake did not rise so it was rather flat. Like I said earlier, it might have been because of the altitude and since the cake was flat, that might have caused the excess liquid. It tasted good, but I probably would not make this again unless we move.

Asian Roll Lettuce Wrap

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
This was a good recipe. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was still good. I used cilantro as part of the wrapping ingredients and that really made it closer to what I was looking for. Good, but probably will not make it again.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
OMGosh!! This was awesome!! It was like a cinnamon crumb cake on top of banana bread!!! I took the advice of other bakers and added 1 tsp of cinnamon to the banana bread mix and then used 1/3 cup oil instead of butter. Definitely a keeper!! Thanks for posting!!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
This recipe is good when it "works". I made it twice. The first time I made it, it was a "trial" version to see if it was good enough for a birthday cake. It turned out wonderful! Light and fluffy! So I decided to use it for the birthday cake the next day. Unfortunately, the second time around, the cake came out flat and dense. The taste was still good, but I was very disappointed with the texture and appearance. Will have to delete this from my recipe box because of it's unpredictablity.

Beer Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
This is a great recipe. I usually make my pancakes with bisquick, but when I do not have any, I use this recipe. I use mountain dew instead of beer since we dont drink and never have alcohol in the house. Because of that, I do ease up on the sugar since the soda is loaded with it. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks for posting!

Savory Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
I think this would make a good base recipe. I made this exactly the way the instructions were written with the exception of 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose flour. The overall texture was great, moist on the inside, kinda crunchy on the outside. The taste however was quite bland. If I decide to try this again, I would definitely add something like onion powder or maybe some cheese as some suggested.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
This was a very tasty dish, but for some reason, mine turned out very flat. It blew up like a balloon in the middle of cooking and then deflated just like one. I'm thinking that is has something to do with the High Altitude that I live in (8,000 ft above sea level). I'm giving it five stars because even though it was the weirdest looking quiche I ever saw, it was pretty tasty (and one shouldn't fault the recipe just because of one's altitude ;D)

Cola Pork Chops

This was a really quick and easy recipe, and it turned out great. I used Mountain Dew instead of cola and added a touch of onion powder when I salt & peppered it. Quick, easy, and no fancy ingredients! Love it! thanks for posting!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

These were sooo awesome!! I made these exactly like it said with the exception of raisins. I deleted the raisins and increased the brown sugar to a cup (my family does not like raisins). They were such a big hit!! this is definitely a keeper!!

Warm Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
This was so fast and easy and it tastes great! I did not have any sour cream so I used a combination of a little whipped dressing and milk instead. I also excluded the spicy brown mustard (suggestion from someone else) and I added some parmasean cheese!!! It turned out great!!! Thanks for posting!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I made this recipe twice: The first time I took someone's advice and added 3/4 peanut butter and 1/4 cup applesauce instead of the 1/2 cup oil. This made the texture of the bar like a protein bar. The second time I made it, I added 1/4 c peanut butter and 1/4 c applesauce. I also replaced the raisins with chocolate chips. These were a winner!!! Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
I read a few of the reviews and would have followed those recomendations but did not have all the ingredients, so my version is closer to the original. I used: 1) condensed potatoe soup (because hubby does not like mushrooms) 2) used onion powder (because I did not have an oniion) 3) 1 tbs Worchtershire (as original) 4) beef boullion cubes (as some recommended) 5) 4 oz cream cheese (as original) 6) Added salt, pepper and garlic powder (this was just logical to me) Cooked for 5 hours on low. Turned out great!!!!! Thanks for posting!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
This was a great pizza dough recipe. I have a recipe that works great in a wood stove, but doesn't work so well in an oven, so I went looking and found this one. I did it two ways: The first way is the original way of doing it with the exception of dissolving the yeast and sugar first. I used it in a breakfast pizza and it turned out great. The second way is I took the advice of Cindy76541 and let it rise for 30 minutes while I prepared the toppings. I also kneaded a few times (just because), and did the deep dish thing as Cindy76541 did. It came out great. The one thing I think I will change next time is take the advice of another review which said to use less flour - maybe by 3/4 of a cup. Three cups seemed a bit too much and kept the dough from being "elastic-ish". Dont know if that's the way its supposed to be or if it is because I live in a very high altitude (8,000 ASL). All in all, it turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

Beer Bread I

This is definitely a keeper! I use Mountain Dew because never have beer in the house (we don't drink). I also add three tablespoons of melted butter on top before putting it in the oven. I also used the suggested 1/3 cup sugar!
