Alla Checca

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This was tasty, and extremely simple! I omitted the salt (don't care for salt in my food) and used a bit more garlic. Thanks Star!

Peanut butter and Pickle Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
It sounds crazy, but it's not bad. I used pre-sliced bread & butter pickles, which didn't taste too great. Use a fresh dill pickle as stated for the best results. Don't knock it until you try it, thanks Rachel for the unique idea.

Green Pepper Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
This was tasty. I omitted the celery because I didn't have any, and had to use a white onion because it's what was on hand. I also left out the salt, as I don't care for additional salt in my food.

Smooth Poblano Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
Not bad, but not great. A little too much avocado for me, and I love avocado. Next time, I would decrease the amount. The spice is perfect, though.

Simple Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
Mmmm, so delicious. I've been craving a good, spicy pasta dish for a while now, and this dish fit the bill. Not only is it economical, but it is filling, and you can control how spicy it is according to your tastes. I found that by using extra garlic, salt and pepper, and the basil helps reduce the "metallic taste" from the canned tomatoes. Thanks for the quick, easy recipe, ROgg.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
These did NOT work out for me. The sauce was a mixture of an oily/chunky mess, and there certainly wasn't enough to coat the wings. I won't be trying this again, but thanks Kelly.

Okra Fritters

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
I have no idea what happened, but these were a failure. They fell apart while frying, but on the plus side, I love the incorporation of tomato in this. I've made variations of fritters before, but never with tomato. I might try this again sometime, thanks.

Classic Pizza Margherita

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
One of my favorite pizza styles, however I didn't use the pesto & basil combo. I instead sprinkled the crust with red pepper flakes, then layered the cheese, the tomato slices, the fresh chopped basil, and a little more cheese on top. Now THAT'S pizza margherita!

Grilled Okra

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
I only had pre-sliced okra, but it worked out well. I used Tony Chachere's original creole seasoning as well. You may want to sprinkle the seasoning, as another reviewer said, rolling the okra around in in makes it too strong. I made that mistake as well, so next time I will sprinkle the seasoning instead.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
This was SO good. The only changes I made were using dried basil instead of fresh, and I had to make my own broth since I didn't have any. But it turned out fabulous. The amount of spice was perfect for me. I'll be making this again and again, thank you DEBNJAMES~!

Guacamole

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
Well, I thought this had very little flavor, however the roomies ate it all, so I'll give it a three out of five stars. I'm not sure what went wrong, I mean, you can't really screw up guacamole! I'll probably try this another time and hopefully taste better results.

Pollo con Nopales (Chicken and Cactus)

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
Not bad. I used pre-cooked, packaged chicken slices, and added a dash of garlic powder, 2 tbsp lime juice, and 2 tbsp of dried cilantro leaves. I didn't shred my chicken, just a personal preference. Thanks, Chef Kiki.

Rich Pasta for the Poor Kitchen

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
This was great. I love basic pasta recipes. I used angel hair pasta and dried parsley flakes, but that was the only change I made. The cayenne pepper was a nice added kick, and I felt it really pulled everything together. Thanks, Vampyrelady.

10-Minute Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
This was really good, and so simple. I had to make my own sauce though, because I didn't have any on hand, which is rare. I'll be making this one again.

Easy Mac and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
As written, it is pretty bland, like others have said. I left out the ham, since I didn't have any. I added some garlic powder and ground black pepper, but it was still missing something to give it that "oomph." I probably won't be making this again, but it was nice to try something different, thanks Rebeckah.

Pasta with Fresh Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
Delicious! I left out the Parmesan cheese, as I didn't have any on hand, used rigatoni instead of penne, and dried basil instead of fresh. The dressing I used was a combo Italian/Balsamic Vinegar, and it was great. Quick and easy, a definite keeper. Thanks Kelcampbell.

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
I LOVE this! So easy, and so versatile, how can you go wrong? I seasoned the mixture with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning, but the possibilities are endless with how you want to season yours. This is so much better than store-bought microwavable popcorn!

Orzolaya

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I'm so pleased that this turned out exactly as I had it at Heaven on Seven. I left out the ham and pork, though. I didn't want to spend the money on it when the recipe calls for such a small amount. My parents loved it, and I'm eager to finish off the small portion that is leftover.

Lemon Pepper Pasta

This was an okay dish. I would add chopped garlic next time. I ate this cold, and it was alright, but I think it would taste better warm.

Wagon Wheel Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
I just made this tonight, but haven't tasted it yet, as I'm letting the flavors meld. I did make some changes though; shredded cheddar cheese instead of cubes, 2 diced plum tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes, red onion in place of green ones, and I omitted the salt (personal preference).
