About this Cook
I grew up helping my mom in the kitchen and if I wasn't helping I was watching her as she cooked. I have been blessed to have great cooks in my family.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are my favorite, but I enjoying cooking and trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my mom has a baking day, where we gather at her house and spend the entire day baking cookies, making fudge, and packaging it up to give to coworkers, neighbors, friends and family. I look forward to it every year.
My cooking triumphs
My grandmothers' biscuits and cornbread.
My cooking tragedies
I tried making bagels one time, let's just say I stick to the ones in the bread isle or from my local bakery now.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
I made this for dinner this evening and it turned out FANTASTIC!!!! I have been looking for a spaghetti sauce and meatball recipe for my keeper collection and I have found it. I modified the recipe a bit. I used 2 cans of tomato sauce and one can of diced tomatoes instead of the whole tomatoes and tomato paste. I also didn't have 90 minutes to simmer the sauce and it still tasted great after only 30 minutes. For the meatballs, Instead of cooking them in the sauce, I baked them on a cookie sheet, covered with foil, at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. I got approximately 20 out of the recipe. Can't wait for leftovers for lunch!!! YUMMY!

Pumpkin Muffins II
I have made these muffins several times and they are alwasy delicious. For Thanksgiving, instead of making muffins, I made it into a cake and drizzled it with cream cheese icing. I used a bundt pan and baked it at the same temperature for about an hour and 15 minutes (until a toothpick came out clean). It turned out very good. Definitely a great fall recipe.

Apple Crisp II
Great recipe for an apple crisp with a little hearty feel. The topping is so delicious! I made this for a friends wedding rehearsal dinner and both pans were gone in a snap. Served hot out of the oven with vanilla ice cream is the perfect combo. No changes made to the recipe.
