My first try at sushi
About this Cook
I'm originally from Texas, but now live in France with my husband.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer baking, especially cookies. In my quest to get healthier, I am on the look our for lower fat recipes and definitely getting more veggies into our diet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love helping my late mom and grandmother bake during the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I think I'm most proud of the time I pulled off a Dobosh Torte, complete with the hard sugar caramel top. It was as pretty as it was the delicious. Nowadays, I rarely have something not turn out though.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't actually had that many, but a couple instances stand out: the time I accidentally broke a whole bottle of sage in the dish of chicken spagetti (it still got eaten) and the chocolate chip cookies with TOO much butter which spread so much they took up the entire cookie sheet then attempted to bubble up over the sides(miscalculation when going from standard to metric).

Raspberry Tart
Very good and easy, too! Equally good with strawberries!

Chocolate Angel Torte
Beautiful presentation great flavor! I often use almond (or even vanilla) extract in place of the amaretto. An excellent recipe and lowfat, too!

Oatmeal Whoopie Pies
Cookies were soft and delicious (and stayed soft!), the filling was the crowning glory, but you need to have a sweet tooth. MMMMMM! Will definitely make again!
