Lavender Lemonade

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
Yum! I made the full recipe with 1/2 cup of lavendar flowers but they were homegrown which are stronger than most. I made sure to muddle the lavendar in the hot water and squeeze all the lavendar flavor out of the 1/2 cup. Thanks!

Hot Spinach Salad

I only had good, syrup-like balsamic vinegar that would have overpower the dish. I used a combo of that and apple cider vinegar.

Caramel Candies

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
For easy cutting, line your pan with with parchment paper; just lift the parchment paper out, cut into strips with a good pizza cutter, and use a knife for sizing into pieces. I double the recipe and use a jelly roll pan. Also, definitely get a good thermometer (boil water and make sure it reads 212F) and definitely boil candy to just over 250F.

Venison Pot Roast and Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Yum! I did my own thing to make the gravy and cooked it a bit longer just because I had the time. I like the idea of slicing it first...it cooks faster and the outside doesn't get overdone. Thank you!

Tomato Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I used this recipe because I thought it would work well with venison, and it did! The tomoato acid and cooking time help the venison soak-up flavor and become tender. Served it over rice and the whole family enjoyed it.

Carrot Coconut Lime Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Served this chilled and then heated the leftovers - both ways are tasty. I took the advise of other reviewers - I didn't change the amount of coconut milk, but used equal amounts of "light" coconut milk and regular coconut milk. Thank you!

Vegetable Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
This is a great alternative to the traditional veggie dip! I didn't have tarragon vinegar, but had fresh tarragon in the garden - used some of that with red wine vinegar and it was fabulous. I'll have to keep an eye out for tarragon vinegar, but until then, I'll probably use my dried tarragon. I used this dip for everything in my garden...carrots, zucchini, bell peppers, pea pods... It kept well too. Thank you.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
Five stars from my family for taste, and from me for being easy to make. Lack of time made me try this on high for less time, but it made the outer edge a bit dry...still good, but if you have time, cook as directed! I added some fresh basil and used fresh ginger because I had it. Served it with rice and everyone ate up. Good for leftovers too. Thank you.

Salmon Rosemary Burgers

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
My whole family loved this! A great way to use some of the salmon in my freezer. It was snowing outside (on Oct 30th!), so I cooked them in a non-stick pan with a bit of olive oil and butter. Kids put ranch on their burgers. Adults did Dijon and/or horseradish, and I added acodado -yum! I only had my dried rosemary, and the flavor was still good.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
Leftover idea... I drained off the broth and mixed the remaining with sourcream and softened cream cheese for a fabulous dip - cold or slightly warmed. This soup recipe was super easy...threw it together in the morning. For us, it needed more seasoning...extra cumin, etc... The whole family enjoyed it. Thanks!

Broccoli Beef II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
The whole family loved this. I made it with venison(the tender back-strap), normal onions and frozen broccoli because that's what I had! I also put a bit more broth and cornstarch in because we love sauce. I will certainly make it again. Thanks for this simple and delicious dish!

Chicken Continental

My family loved this...no leftovers! My 9 year old ate and ate and ate, mushrooms and all. My 6 year old continued to eat even after her brother told her there were mushrooms in it! Made it as-is and served with corn and a salad. I love easy that doesn't come from a box!

I topped this very moist cake with whipped cream cheese frosting. The small piece I tasted before sending it to work with my husband was great. It was a hit at his office. Love the pineapple! Thanks!
