About this Cook
I'm a librarian in MN and I'm not an expert cook but I like to cook and I like to try new recipes. I've been getting recipes from all recipes for years now, but I have finally decided to make a profile so I can review and rate the recipes that do and don't work.
My favorite things to cook
I recently have been trying asian dishes for the first time, so I'm having fun making some of those. My favorite things to cook, though, are desserts with chocolate. You can't go wrong with chocolate. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Many people say their mothers are the best cooks, but my mom really, really is. All of my friends love it when I bring them a dessert my mother has made, and nothing compares to her potato salad. I just always loved it when my mom was in the kitchen cooking, which she does often, and it was fun to help when I was little.
My cooking triumphs
I think I have a great barbeque sauce that a lot of people like, but I really don't make too much beef or pork dishes, so I don't use it often. I have some really great desserts that I make, too, which isn't surprising since that is my favorite area to play around with.
My cooking tragedies
I still don't know how to make a pie crust like my mom. I need to sit with her for awhile to figure out how she really does it. I also don't know how to make things with yeast...I've never tried it, though, but it seems like too much work to me.

The Best Stuffed Mushrooms
Yum! These were good! I added two things, but other than that made it just like directed. I added: breadcrumbs to the top of the mushrooms and I sauteed the stems in the bacon grease and added them to the filling. Delicious!

Perfect Chocolate Cake
I wanted to make a cake without milk or buttermilk, and this was perfect! I only made the cake part of the recipe, and I put them into cupcakes, and they are awesome. This is definitely getting added to my recipe box.

Chewiest Brownies
These are totally fudgy, moist, and rich, and that's exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for a cakey brownie you should keep looking because these turn out exactly as advertised and they're definitely not cakey. I think they taste great, thanks!
