I am just a beginner in the kitchen, so this rating may be more a reflection of my skill than of the recipe.
When I cut in the tablespoon of margarine the dry mix was still quite powdery -not crumbly. So I added more until it started to resemble crumbles.
After I added the milk the mixture became very sticky -not exactly what I'd call soft. I see the recipe said it made 6 dumplings, but it seemed to me that they would be HUGE. So I dropped nine large spoonfuls of the dough into my vegetable chowder. After the 15 minutes of simmering without lifting the lid they were still very dense and seemed uncooked in the middle -so I left them another 15 minutes. It didn't make any difference. They seemed reluctant to cook in the middle. They remained dense and moist. I don't know if they were just too big or what I did wrong.
