Autumn Pork Chops

I cannot stand people who rate a recipe before they've even tried it or because it was submitted by a food company rather than an individual! What's the point of that if you haven't even tried it?? There are many other brand names on this site who submit recipes other than Campbell's, so why judge a recipe just because you don't like that it's being submitted by a food company? This was easy and fast for a week night meal, even though I don't usually like using soups and other processed ingredients and use them sparingly, but hey, give us a break from your opinions based solely on what you THINK it might taste like when you haven't even tried the recipe! And by the way, people have been cooking with Campbell's soup since before most of us were born. Just saying, don't rate it unless you've tried it.

Lentil and Sausage Soup

First let me say that I followed the recipe exactly. The flavor of the sausage was overwhelming, all I could taste was the basil and sweetness of the sausage. And I don't know if the lentils I used were the wrong kind, but they cooked into mush, and I only cooked it for an hour. I used red lentils, don't know if that made a difference, got them from a health food store that sells them in bulk. My soup turned out very thick and mushy, not what I was hoping for. I can't express enough how strong the sausage flavor was, it was not very appetizing at all. I think it would have been better if I had used ham instead. Won't make again, sorry.

Cheesy Shell Lasagna

This is a good basic recipe, but I thought it was way too bland. I will try it again and add my own seasonings, maybe basil, oregano, garlic to add some flavor. I used Emeril's Traditional Marinara sauce and I did use a 16 oz. package of pasta instead of the 8 oz. and the consistency of it was fine. I do think it's a dish kids would like, & will try it again when my grandkids come to visit. It was good, but I think it needs a little tweaking to your personal taste.

The Best Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms

I always try to make a recipe as written before rating it. These were OK, but needed more flavor, they were too bland for us. We put Louisiana hot sauce on them and that helped, but if I made them again, I would add some hot sauce or cayenne to the stuffing to give it a boost, the cream cheese taste is pretty predominant, maybe some pepper jack or even cheddar might have made them more tasty. The seafood flavor came out more after reheating them the next day, not so much right out of the oven.

Cheesy Broccoli Pie

This was very quiche-like, which I like but some may not. I followed the recipe exactly which I think everyone should do the first time before rating it. The sides & bottom did get a little more done than I would have liked and seemed kind of rubbery. I did top it off with some salsa because I thought there wasn't much flavor in it. If I make again I will maybe add some chicken or maybe some green chilies, but it is not a dish I would want to make again without some alterations.

Sausage Cups

We always make these for holiday dinners/parties and they are always the first thing everyone goes for! The only thing I change is to add 1/2 of a finely chopped green bell pepper and use the hot sausage instead of the regular, but that's a personel preference. I think it adds a little zip that I like. I can't recommend this highly enough, I've never found an appetizer like this that everyone is guaranteed to love!

Yellow Squash Casserole

I made this recipe exactly as written with the only exception being that for the topping, I melted the butter and mixed it in with the crackers so it coated all the crackers instead of just dotting the butter over the top. Got many compliments on it when I made it for our Christmas family dinner, and was asked to make it again for our Easter dinner this year. Very good recipe, thanks for sharing.

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

HOLY COW!! 1046 calories, 64 grams of fat, & 1875 mg of sodium?? Wish I had read the nutrition info before I made it. Not a bad recipe, but definitely not worth all the fat. If I'm going to indulge that much, it won't be with this dish.

White Chocolate Party Mix

Well, I don't know what I did wrong, but it just didn't hold together like it was supposed to. I used the Ghiradelli white chocolate bars (4 bars at 4 oz. each), melted them in the microwave, and followed directions exactly other than that. What I came up with was a sticky concoction that did not harden. It tasted great, but did not harden into something you could break apart, it was just sticky and you would have to wipe your fingers after you ate a piece because the chocolate was still sticky after letting it cool for over 2 hours. I would appreciate someone telling me what I did wrong. I want to make this again because it tasted good, but not really good for snacking the way mine turned out.

Taco Bake II

We thought this was very good even though I used ground turkey, fat free sour cream, low fat cheese, and Mrs. Dash taco seasoning because I have to watch my sodium/fat intake. It still turned out very tasty. Also substituted the Rotel with a can of no salt added diced tomatoes and a small can of green chilies. And instead of the tortilla chips, I layered with regular corn tortillas (because I didn't have any chips on hand) which made it kind of a Mexican lasagna. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will add some chips on top for some crunch. Topped with salsa and avocado and served with a side salad with Catalina dressing. Sorry to rate the recipe with the changes I made, I try not to do that, but thought other people with fat/sodium issues who try to eat healthier might want to know you can do it healthier without sacrificing taste. Thanks for the recipe!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

This cake is just delightful! I did use half milk/half cream instead of the full 2 cups of milk. I think it gives it a much richer taste, and also I think when you use all regular milk, it makes the cake a little too milky tasting and not quite sweet enough. Very easy and delicious!

Beef Tips

We did not care for this. Had to add 4 Tbsp. cornstarch to make it thick enough to make a gravy to pour over noodles, otherwise it would have been way too watery. I thought the flavor was just OK, my husband thought it was awful and said don't make again. I used sirloin instead of stew meat because I thought it would be more tender, but that didn't help. I didn't add the tsp. of salt because I figured it would be salty enough with the soy sauce, and it was (even used low sodium soy sauce), if I had added the extra salt, would probably have been inedible.

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes

These were pretty good, but I did add more onion and a little garlic powder. I only added 4 cups of milk because it seemed like too much liquid for the amount of potatoes, and I'm glad I didn't use the whole 5 cups, otherwise it would have been too saucy for my taste. I did have to add another Tbs. of flower mixed with a little milk to get it to the right thickness. Otherwise, I think it would have been too watery. Also, to cut down on oven time, I microwaved the potatoes for about 10 minutes prior to assembling the dish, and then baked it for 45 mintues, turned out just right.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

We really liked this dish. I like that it doesn't use canned soup, I try to stay away from that due to the sodium content. I did use fresh mushrooms and sauteed them first with some chopped onion. Very good flavor in this dish. I only had the cooking sherry that you buy in the grocery store, so I added another tablespoon of that to give it more of the sherry taste. Also used half and half instead of heavy cream just to cut down on calories and fat and that worked fine. My husband loves this dish and requests it often. We do top it off with some more grated Parmesan once it's on the plate. Thanks for a great recipe!

New England Clam Chowder II

This chowder had a delicious flavor and we totally loved it. But when I make again, I will add more clams and clam juice, it didn't really have much of the clam flavor that you would expect in a clam chowder. Also, I thought there were too many potatoes, next time I will probably only use 2 potatoes. It was more like a good potato soup with a few clams thrown in. Since other reviewers said it was too thin, I used 2 Tbsp. flour, but still needed to add some instant potato flakes to thicken it up. Having said all that, it really was a delicious soup, just not clammy enough for my taste, but that may just be personal preference. I will defiitely make again though, will just add more clams next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

This tastes just like the red beans & rice I've had in New Orleans restaurants. I followed the directions exactly and it turned out perfect. I did take about 2 cups of the beans out after they were soft and mashed them and put them back in, as I like a more creamy consistency, and it turned out very nice. Added several drops of Lousiana Hot Sauce on top before eating. Wonderful! (We have a small catering business and this is the recipe we now use and people absolutely love it!)

Layered Chicken and Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

I did not find this bland at all. I used the "medium" enchilada sauce and not the "mild", so maybe that helped. I did just use taco seasoning from a packet to season the chicken when I sauteed it instead of the cumin & coriander, since I had no coriander. As suggested by another reviewer, I added the sour cream to the chicken mixture. I also added chopped onion and garlic powder and a little corn I had left in the freezer. The end result was very good. Next time I will probably double up on the tortillas to give it some substance, I couldn't really taste any tortillas, they seemed to dissolve into the other ingredients. All in all, this was pretty good and will make again.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

I was looking for something to make with leftover Thanksgiving turkey and so I used cubed turkey instead of ground turkey. Otherwise followed the recipe exactly. I have to give this only 3 stars because the cinnamon flavor pervaded the dish, that's all I could taste, it was very prevalent. My husband however loved it (although this was afer an afternoon of watching football afer having consumed numerous beers). I don't think I will make again, but if I do, I will omit the cinnamon, because I think it might have been pretty good without it.

Just Like Wendy's® Chili

I thought this was good, made it as recipe states, but used ground turkey and no salt added tomatoes and McCormick low sodium chili seasoning to suit my preferences. I wasn't sure about the celery, but it blended in nicely. I served it topped with low fat Mexican cheese blend and Fritos (a guilty pleasure). I'll make again, thanks for the recipe!
