Roasted Beet Wedges

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
This was a good recipe for beets. I am trying to expand my family's veggies so I purchased some fresh beets. My husband who likes beets really enjoyed them. I did not have fresh rosemary so I will probably try the recipe again with some rosemary. I think I would probably enjoy them more in a salad in the future. So I will probably roast then chill and toss in a green salad.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This was really tasty bread. I used Hazelnuts instead of walnuts and used Hazelnut liqueur instead of vanilla. I will probably try adding chocolate chips and pecans in the future. I gave it four stars because it cooked over the medium sized pans and got all over the bottom of the oven, and took 20 extra minutes to bake. I will probably use bigger pans and watch the cooking time in the future.

Orange Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
We loved this recipe. We did it on the grill and I marinated it for about 3-4 hours prior. I used fresh squeezed OJ since I only had oranges, and garlic powder instead of fresh garlic since I was out, and it was wonderful. Even the microwaved left overs were extremely moist and still had juice running out. I grilled until the internal temp was 160 and let rest about 10 minutes before serving and it was cooked perfectly.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Very good biscuits. I followed advice of other reviewers and added all whole wheat flour and 1 tsp extra baking powder. The dough is sticky but if you generously dust your board with flour it became very workable.

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I have made this recipe many times and it always turns out perfect. Very easy to make and my whole family enjoys it (husband and four year old twins). I do add some Italian seasoning mix and garlic powder to the dough while adding the flour for extra flavor. I have also made the second portion of crust into four personal size pizza's for my boys to decorate themselves. Baked all four on a cookie sheet for 16 minutes, which turned out really well.

Braised Lemon Pheasant

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I enjoyed the recipe quite a bit. It was easy to make--next time I might try the crockpot. I made a rice pilaf to serve with it.

Pheasant Phungi Perfection

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
Very good phesant recipe. The woodsy flavor of the mushrooms goes well with the gameness of the pheasant. I served it with rice, but will prefer noodles the next time. I shared the recipe with my mother, and she poaches the phesants first so it is easier to debone. I have not tried it this way, but I am sure that some of the flavor does not get in the meat. I might try next time just using the breast meat and putting it in a slow cooker as other reviewers suggested to save time on the tedious de-boning process.

Philly Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
Really good recipe. The meat was seasoned really well, and it was very easy to make. We also mushrooms to the veggie mix. Who love Cheesesteaks loved it. Alhtough, himself and other family members who have had authentic philly cheesesteaks, stated that it is very good but not at all like an authentic philly cheesesteak, which is why I gave the four stars. Otherwise it is five on taste.

Easy Pheasant Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
Really not impressed with this recipe. I have made it on two occasions to try and use up some of our pheasant. Really not very good. I am still searching for good phesant recipes that are not time consuming. I would not even make this with chicken since there are so many better chicken recipes out there. It really tastes like a boxed dinner.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
This chicken is awesome!! Extremely juicy--when I pull the leg off the cooked chicken you can see a pool of juice! Super easy if you have the time. I use smart balance instead of butter which works well. I have also had to increase the cooking time on occasion since it wasn't cook throughly. I have also played with the seasonings, added a lemon to the middle with lemon pepper, and I have used garlic cloves. I also baste mine during the cooking as well. We love it!

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
I made these last night with some homemade chicken soup, exactly as the recipe said they turned out really well. I made them mid morning to let them adequately dry out, but next time I will probably make them close to the time of adding to the soup. I will also roll them out thinner. I separated them after cutting and let them dry on a kitchen towel on the counter. They took to long to cook. Next time I will try to use some whole wheat flour, and smart balence instead of butter. I also would like to try egg substitue to make a cholesteral free version. I will definately make again, they made my soup extra special with not much effort.

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
If you are looking for a fast and simple granola recipe this is it. It was extremely good for the amount of time and ingredients it took. It got better after a day--It dried out some more, and got more of the typical granola crunch. Reminded me of a carmel corn taste, with oats, which I liked. I have made it with toasted pecans which was really delicious. I also added a 1/2 cup of golden flax seeds with the oats which added to the healthy factor, gave great crunch, and added a extra nutty flavor.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
Tried this the other night with some left over french bread. Not really impressed it was ok, but not really different then the french toast I threw together before. I was hoping it would taste like a restaurant, but not even close.

Scalloped Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
Very good recipe-very simple. Simple ingredients-so it is a good recipe for a last minute choice. I wanted it to be a main course so I added some diced left over ham in the middle of the two layers. Turned out very well! Next time I will probably mix the ham in with the potatoes and soup to get it through out. I will definately use again.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
I tried these for Easter. I tried to save time and make them ahead on Friday, but they were so good we ate too many that I had to make a second batch on Saturday. My 2 1/2 year old twins could not eat enough. The second batch I used 1/4 cup honey--which was also good.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
This is a great recipe. It makes wonderful cinnamon rolls as well. I rolled them out and spread the dough with the butter. Then I filled them with a mix of 1 cup brown sugar and 4 tsp cinnamon and peacans. Then topped with cream cheese or powder sugar frosting. I was told by my in-laws that they are better then cinnabon. I also baked them for 5 minutes the night before and finished up the next morning for five more minutes---Perfect!
