Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
Great recipe! You have to be generous with the flour so as to get the dough right but this is an excellent recipe for a good pizza crust. I divided mine in half (I like a thinner crust and this was too much, so I made 2 pies). I also added some red crushed pepper. Used San Marzano crushed tomato sauce, sliced mozzarella and fresh basil for an out-of-this-world home-made pizza Napolitana. Everyone loved it! Suggestions: Bake the crust for 5-7 minutes before adding toppings; then brush crust with olive oil, add toppings and bake!

An "ok" recipe- but his is not an "original" recipe -you can get this from a simple internet search-not the best, but will keep looking.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Very good bread, although hard to slice-slices kinda fell apart a bit as I cut them. Overall, a good recipe for bread machine bread.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
Excellent, thick and hearty soup! I did not have the rice the recipe called for handy so I used white rice and a pack of Goya's "sazon". It turned out great!

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
This recipe does not get 5 stars from me because it needs several modifcations to get it right. For example, you should NOT use all the water they indicate in the recipe. I started out by using the 1/2 cup water suggested and the dough came out super liquid-had to do it all over again (by the way, the small print indicating "use less water if needed" does not help, because most of us do not see such small notations to begin with. The actual recipe should be changed to reflect this). I also recommend not being shy about the amount of flour used to manage the dough. After 3 tries, I finally got it right-so I suggest reading through all the reviews first before tackling this recipe!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I would have given this recipe more stars if the recipe had included oregano from the beginning. It's true what some of the other reviewers have said about the sauce-it is very tomato-ish, without the oregano it almost tastes like plain tomato sauce. Soooo, try adding 2- 3 teaspoons oregano (I also added 1 tbsp cilantro). This fixed it for me. Much better! As for the rest of the recipe - it's really good!
