Irish Stew

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
I love stew and lamb. This was way too bland for me. I ended up adding 1T of beef bouillion for flavor and additional salt. I also thickened it a bit with 2T flour. I've tasted better so will not use this one again.

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
This was just ok for me, the sauce was good but the cooking process for the chops made them kind of on the tough side.

Not enough flavor and didn't look very appealing to serve.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
As recommended by another reviewer, I added 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp almond extract, everything else was the same. Delicious. At Easter, I added a jelly bean and for Christmas, I'll add green and red candied cherries.

The Best Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
This was excellent. I did follow the suggestion of another reviewer and added some grated parmesan and 1/4 cup of the chopped stems and I used frozen, drained shrimp cut up fine. I cut the stuffing in half and it worked out just right using a large package of mushrooms (16 oz). This is a keeper for me.

This is good but I found one I like just a little better on this same site. I'm trying to keep the best of the best:) in each category.

Simple Baked Apples

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly and didn't think it was anything spectacular for family eating. It also wasn't very attractive to serve to guests. I will not use it again. I tried it twice to give it the benefit of the doubt as there were so many good reviews and I still won't make it again.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
I loved the country fried steak, didn't care for the milk gravy, it was brown not white and burnt tasting but the meat wasn't burned. Just didn't care for the taste. I actually used a package white gravy mix for the leftovers and it was great.

Pineapple Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
I thought this was very good. After reading other reviews, I used an 8x8 pan, but I think after using it, a 9x13 pan would have been fine. The only change I made was to use a 20 oz can of crushed pineapple as that was all I had on hand.

Raspberry Kielbasa over Cheese Grits

I thought this was very good. I did omit the mushrooms and will use this recipe again (minus the mushrooms). Delightful.

Grandma Elaine's Unstuffed Sweet and Sour Cabbage

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
I wouldn't use this again. I thought the meatballs were hard and the recipe was time consuming. I prefer the ease and taste of the unstuffed cabbage recipe that is all thrown into a 9x13 pan.

Banana Split Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I made the following changes: For the crust, I used 1/3 cup melted butter not 1 stick; for the cream cheese layer, I used 1 box of confectionary sugar not white sugar, I also slided my banans into the pineapple juice after draining my crushed pineapple and then drained them for the banana layer and I only used 4 medium bananas and didn't put any on the top layer. On the top layer I used the pecans, marachino cherries and drizzeled a little chocolate over it. I also used low fat cream cheese, 2% milk and sugar free pudding to reduce some of the calories. It was very good.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
I will use this again. I split my cake and put a small amount of frosting in the middle and there was enough to frost the entire 9x13 cake. I used German Chocolate Cake Frosting II by Carol B on this site and it was very good. The cake took 50 minutes to bake not 30. I followed the directions to a T and will use it again.

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

I really enjoyed these. I did add 1/2 cup chopped red onions and I served sour cream, guacamole and salsa on the side. They are delicious as is and taste great out of the freezer too.

Steff's Shepherd Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
This was delicious. I gave it 4 because I used some suggestions from other reviewers. I like corn and peas so added those and used 1.5 cups cheese. I browned the beef with the onions and 1 T minced garlic then drained the fat and added, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper and 1 tsp garlic powder, the soup and veggies and put it all in a greased 9x13 pan, added the cheese then topped with the mashed potatoes. Really easy. It is a keeper.

Broccoli and Onion Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
This was excellent and it is replacing the green bean casserole for this Christmas dinenr. 4 stars because I used the modifications of another reviewer: I sauteed onions in olive oil with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 Tbs minced garlic. This is a keeper. I couldn't stop eating it.
