Lamb Chops in Duck Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
I like my lamb chops med-rare so these were over-cooked for me. I prefer mint jelly as my sweetness with the chops to duck sauce, but the recipe seemed interesting so I thought I would try it. Mint jelly is still my preference with med-rare lamb.

Pork Lo Mein

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
The sauce on this is just like you eat in an Asian restaurant. Need to use this sauce on all stir fry dishes as it tastes very authentic. This is a winner for sure. This is a keeper for me!

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
I used a 9x13 pan and 1 cresent roll pkg. I served sour cream, salsa and guacamole on the side. I baked the cresent dough 15 minutes before adding teh ingredients listed. I did top with crushed nacho chips; however, if you are going to use this as a leftover, make sure you heat it up in the oven, not the microwave so the chip topping will stay crisp.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
I only used one pepper and halved the oil and vinegar and it was plenty. This is good if you have any leftovers as a snack with scoops!

Angel Fruit Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
I will use this again, real easy, lite recipe and it looks nice on table. I used one large container of cool whip, didn't use peaches. For fruit I used all berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. I decorated the top layer with raspeberries and blueberries. It was a hit.

I thought this was good. It took 2 lemons for me. I like the idea of 10 calories total:)

Merritt's Butternut Squash Gratin

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2013
I liked the taste, followed the directions completely. I thought the topping was too dry so I think I'll try the Panko bread crumbs next time to see if that makes a difference.

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
This was good, I also made a version with green tea and Turbinado sugar and followed the same instructions just replacing green tea bags and Turbinado sugar. It is a keeper for me.

Wave Your Flag Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
I won't make this again I don't care for the Jell-o with the cake. I also didn't care for so much cream cheese in the frosting. Guests weren't fans either. It was pretty to look at but that was about all.

Refreshing Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
I was looking for a home-made lemonade but this one used 9 lemons, which I thought was a lot. It called for Splenda but I replaced that with Truvia as I don't use Splenda and read that one reviewer also did this but I thought it was way too sweet and tasted more like sugar water than lemonade. I will be looking for another home-made lemonade recipe without Splenda and uses less lemons.

Monte Cristo Hotdog

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
I gave this a 4 because I didn't have strawberry jam and had to use grape jelly and I thought it was GREAT! It is a keeper for me when I need a hotdog with style!

I thought this was pretty good and I loved the suggestion about freezing it in cupcake liners for those days when you are in a hurry.

Cuban-Style Yucca

This was ok, it is missing something, just don't know what. Make sure you remove the stringy cord when you slice it.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
I thought this was good however I did listen to some of the reviewers and reduced the amount of butter and added white wine, ommitted parsley and mustard, mainly as I didn't have them. I used 1/2 the amount of shrimp so used 1/4c butter and 1/8 cup white wine. I did cook the shrimp for 12 min as suggested by original submission. This was a quick, easy dish. I will try the parsley and mustard next time around and resubmit my rate, just had some shrimp and wanted to use it up with what I had in the house.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
I thought this was pretty good and will put it in a bi-monthly rotation. The only change I'll make is increasing the seasoned salt to 1 teaspoon in the hamburger mix as it was a little bland.

Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
I won't be making these again. The recipe sounded interesting, the end result wasn't that tasty. I didn't care for the dry bread crumbs on it either and they ended up with a rather dry taste.

Sauce for Corned Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
Too much of a ketchupy taste for me, didn't care for the combination of ingredients. I also tried it with lamb as well as with the corned beef and didn't like it with the lamb either.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2013
This was very good. I went with suggestions of other reviewes and added another 10 oz pkg of chopped spinach (I used chopped spinach rather than buy regular spinach). It was easier. I added 4 chopped garlic buds to the onion and sauteed it (also suggested by another reviewer) cut the butter to 1/4 and increased salt by 1/2 tsp. All the changes were recommendations by other reviewers and I think added flavor to the overall recipe. I will keep this one. It was enjoyed with the changes.
