Beer Brats

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
Very good and so easy for a large crowd. I took the tip of another reviewer who kept the brats warm in the crockpot as it freed up the grill for other barbecue items and it kept the brats warm during the entire cookout. I also added a some butter as suggested by another reviewer. This was really good. The recipe mentioned sauerkraut; but didn't provide instructions on how that was cooked? Any ideas from anyone if it would work out if you added it to the beer broth?

Amazing Cocktail Sauce

Reviewed: May 12, 2014
I didn't use the chile-garlic sauce and only 5 drops of Tabasco (hot sauce)as I don't care for real spicy cocktail sauce as I was serving this with shrimp that had been cooked in old bay seasoning, which was already spicy.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2014
This is a bread not a casserole. I thought it would come out as a creamy corn side dish; but it was more like a corn-bread. I have added it to my bread receipes. I took suggestion of others and used 1 egg, 3 TBSP melted butter and 1/4 cup chopped onion. I baked it in a round casserole but would recommend a square dish so it can be cut as a bread in squares.

Corned Beef Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2014
I thought the waffle recipe itself was very good. The addition of the corned beef was fair and I decided with the price of corned beef, I'd rather have the corned beef as a main entree. I did keep it as a possible in the event it would spark a guest interest over during St. Patrick's day. I would not use canned corned beef and I would definitely use a fried egg over the top of it as another reviewer suggested. It was the fried egg that made the receipe with the corned beef worthy of keeping.

Cowboy Skillet Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2014
I omitted the peppers but other than that, I thought this was pretty good. I did add an 8 oz package of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the meat layer. I used an 8x8 pan and it was perfect. I will keep it for a now and again recipe.

Paleo Omelet Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
I thought this was pretty good for a quick on the go breakfast. I used the muffin liners but it did stick so suggest spraying them as well. I agree that the addition of some cheddar cheese is a good one. I like that it is so versitle (will try bacon next time as I am not a fan of ham and egg). I followed directions as is.

Pork Sweet Potato Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2014
This is a keeper for me. The only change I made is to use 2 pounds of pork and 3 large sweet potatoes. Yummy on a cold winter evening.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Too salty for me. Even though you can adjust the amount of salt, trying to get the Kale dry enough and then to monitor the process in the oven so they were crisp enough wasn't worth the effort for the taste of it. I didn't find them tasty even those that were crisp. I won't be using this recipe again. I do enjoy Kale soup however on the package of the pre-washed Kale.

Ham Ball

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
This was great, as is! It would have been a little too much for me to eat so I did cut the recipe in half and rolled it in a log instead of a ball. Only because the ball would have been too small. I make a ham shoulder frequently and this is a great way to use some leftovers. I chopped the ham shoulder for my ham. This would make a nice gift along with a box of quality crackers around the holidays.

Butternut Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2014
I agree with others and only used 1/8c of sugars and same with butter instead of margerine. I omitted the pineapple completely and decreased all other spices by 1/2 and it was still sweet and tasty enough.

Southern Macaroni and Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I thought this was very good. My gauge is if the sauce is nice and creamy and this certainly was creamy. I did replace the cheddar with Velveeta as that is my comfort cheese for mac and cheese. I also added my cheese to the milk/butter mixture and just put it all in one large corning wear casserole and it fit perfectly. One reviewer commented that the eggs made the cheese sauce weird and lumpy. If you follow the instructions and add the egg a Tablespoon at a time, the eggs won't get lumpy. It is time consuming so don't rush that step. This is a great recipe and goes well with ham. I brought it to a New Years Eve party where ham was the main dish and it was received very well.

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
I got 51 meatballs out of this recipe, which was a good amount. I didn't think they were very tasty, needs more spices. I also prefer the grape jelly sauce over the cranberry type sauce. This is the second cranberry type sauce I have tried, the other was about the same but had brown sugar added and I didn't care for that one either compared to the grape jelly version. I will not use this again and go back to my graoe jelly sauce recipe and find another recipe for meatballs.

Eggnog Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
I thought this was a very nice looking and tasting cookie. I have added it to my Chirstmas collection. I got 50 cookies. I would double the frosting and then pipe it in the thumbprint. Other than that I followed the recipe to a T. Very good.

Black Friday Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
Excellent. This is a keeper for me! I used my own stuffing, not boxed. That was the only change I made. I had made plenty of home-made stuffing and needed to use it up. It serves 4 as listed. I served it with some hot rolls and cranberry sauce on the side. Wonderful!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
I did not care for this recipe. The cream cheese overpowered the mushroom taste. I prefer more of a bread crumb/mushroom filling. I had used 23 (large pkg of mushrooms) and cut the cream cheese in half and had enough filling, just didn't care for the taste. Definitely not a keeper for me.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2013
This was great. I used a small pork sirloin. I was able to get it in a sealed package with some seasoning on it. It was just the right amount and worke dwell for me and it was only around $6.00 for 2 lbs. I didn't use as much barbecue sauce but kept it on the table in case guests would like more. I used about 1/4 cup. I'll keep this recipe. It is easy and good.

Asian Roll Lettuce Wrap

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2013
This called for turkey but I used chicken, as most of your Asian restaurants have chicken wraps. The taste of the chicken ball wasn’t so bad but it was too dense and too large, even if you longated it to fit properly in a lettuce wrap. I would have liked it better if it were in pieces. The combination of spices were nice, just didn’t like the idea of the ball, made it difficult to manage as a wrap. The dip was tasty.

Lamb Chops in Duck Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
I like my lamb chops med-rare so these were over-cooked for me. I prefer mint jelly as my sweetness with the chops to duck sauce, but the recipe seemed interesting so I thought I would try it. Mint jelly is still my preference with med-rare lamb.
