Polish Meat and Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2015
I liked this the first day--but cut down the oil. I reheated the next day and it was just too greasy so I wouldn't eat it as a leftover but liked it the first time around with about 2T oil.

I've tried it twice and either the dough was too thin or too thick.

Deluxe Corned Beef Hash

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2015
This is a keeper for me--just as written and as one reviewer suggested, add two sunnyside eggs over the top! YUM.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2015
Great idea. I did these in the crockpot and it worked out great. I did put the cabbage in the freezer as suggested by another reviewer and avoided boiling the cabbage. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM. THANK YOU FOR THAT SUPER TIP!!! I will never boil cabbage again for cabbage rolls. I also reduced the pepper to 3/4 tsp as suggested by another reviewer. I kept this sauce as is but my Mom would use tomato soup and I like it better but kept this one as some people may like a tangier version. If cooking in oven, I would double the sauce, if using the crockpot the crockpot generates enough water so I found the measurements listed from BJ sufficient. I used 93% hamburger.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2015
This is a keeper for me with modifications suggested by other reviewers to use 1 tsp soy sauce and 1/2 tsp balsamic. I also melted the butter in the microwave as it was easier and faster than the saucepan.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
I will keep this recipe. I did replace pine nuts for pecans (money saver) and purchased brussels already shredded to save time, added garlic per another reviewer (as I love garlic). This will be my brussels recipe side, replacing others!

Slow Cooker Texas Smoked Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2015
Didn't care for this--no match for the grill slow cooked method. I did not add any water-the slow cooker method is watery enough. It was too salty...and the sauce was too watery for us. I won't use this again.

Classic Macaroni Salad

I cut this in half as it made quite a bit. I left out pimento--good recipe and I will use it again.

Easy and Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2015
Delicious--this is very similar to another recipe Delicious Ham and Potato Soup except for the addition of the cauliflower and corn. I didn't try the cauliflower as I didn't have any. I have used the other recipe on this site and it too is delicious--I loved the corn addition and will use it in the future. Don't know if I'll try the cauliflower as I think it may overpower the taste.

Basic Crepes

Fabulous! Make sure you beat batter so there are no lumps before frying. I kept mine warm in a tortilla warmer while cooking the rest.

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2014
This was great and soooooo easy. I cut it in half though as it makes a TON! Even cutting it in half--I froze some. I also tried this as enchiladas using recipe from another reviewer and that was great too. I would recommend sticking around to monitor the beans so you can add water, if you use dried beans in this so they don't stick to the bottom of the crockpot. I prefer the dried beans to can.

Turkey Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2014
The concept for this recipe is fantastic--what a great idea (a turkey shepard pie). I sauteed 1T minced garlic to the onion in 2T butter. After these were cooked, I added the soup and 1/2 can milk. I read other reveiwer comments and thought they were fantastic--I had some leftover corn so added that along with the green beans, used 1 8oz pkg grated cheese and topped the mashed potatoes with crushed fried onions. I needed that crunch. This is a keeper for me with the added comments of other reviewers. I felt it would be too bland for my tastes as originally written. The concept is great.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
Fantastic and such an easy holiday gift to prepare. Around the holidays it is nice to give a home-made gift and this one couldn't be easier. I did take the suggestion of another reviewer and used n 11x17 jelly roll pan and increased the number of saltines to cover the pan (the rest of the ingredients remained the same). I also used parchment paper (didn't have to spray it). I used a metal spatula to spread the chocolate. I tried using a plastic flexible one and it wasn't spreading easily--the metal one made it much easier.

Hoisin Pork Stir Fry

Excellent. I think the Hoisin sauce was the right amount. I substitued red Sirachi sauce for pepper flakes--only reason I didn't give it a 5.

Brazilian-Style Beef Ribs

I didn't use water. They were good; however, they fell off the bone so you couldn't pick them up by the bone (I like to hold on to a bone:) Very easy to prepare.

Chef John's Corned Beef Hash

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
This was ok to me. It would have been terrible without a sunnyside egg dropped on top. That added some extra flavor it needed.
