German Apple Cake I

Made EXACTLY as written, the first time, in a bunt pan - it was AWESOME. my husband is severely allergic to milk/lactose so i had been looking for a half decent non dairy cake recipe for a while. It was a huge hit and he scoffed it all up in no time. The Second time I made a few changes - not because there was anything wrong with the recipe, but because my baby daughter loved it so I wanted to make it healthier for her: a) I used all whole wheat flour b) subbed half apple sauce for oil c) reduced sugar by half.... the result was still loved by all!

Fiery Pork Skewers

My husband raved about this marinade! I used it on a pork chop I had and baked it in the oven after marinating for about 4-5 hours. Aside from the method of cooking I made the marinade to the letter and apparently it was delicious!

Coffee Marinated Steak

Went down well with the hubby - I'm a vegan myself so didn't eat it but I marinated top flank steak for almost 48 hrs and it was tender, juicy and (apparently) very yummy...I have boneless ribs marinating in it right now!

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Made exactly as the recipe stated... I was STUNNED by how amazing these were!!!! Used Orowheat Sandwich Pita Thins with lettuce, tomato & cheese with vegan mayo. Unbelievable. I'm already planning to make them again tomorrow; even my carnivore hubby wants to try them after seeing my reaction to them. Sooooo fricking good it hurts! NEXT DAY: Ok so I made these again, thinking yesterday might have been a fluke or something and my hubby wanted to try them. This time I marinated the shrooms in the mixture for a couple of hours before grilling and they were just perfect. 8 mins each side over a medium - high heat was spot on, and my carnivorous husband proclaimed them to be JUST LIKE MEAT! High praise indeed. I served them with a salad and the Grilled Broccoli also from this site. Hubby was so satisfied afterwords he didn't even register that he had eaten a 100% vegetarian meal for dinner. YUM YUM YUM!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

These are soooo good, my finace gets all giddy whenever I make these! When I'm trying to get something other than beer & red meat into him, I also add some tuna in there - it might sound wierd, but it tastes great! I also found that brushing the potatoes with a little olive oil and then sprinkling a bit of salt, pepper or other seasoning on them (rosemary works well) before baking makes for a really crisp, savory skin that is a little easier to scoop out. Thanks for a great recipe!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Really enjoyed this, my construction working fiance & his friends practically inhaled this! I did replace the water with beer and added a little beef boullion... my bloke was overjoyed to find a new way to get beer into his system and it gave it an amazing flavor! There were no leftovers at all.
