Slow Cooker Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
Not a bad recipe to play with. I followed other reviewers suggestions and had to increase the amount of liquid as 1 cup was not enough. I think I wound up adding another 1 or 1 1/2 cups of water before the cooking was complete. I did not have enough maple syrup on hand, so I used 1/4c maple, 1/3c honey, and almost 1/2c of homemade BBQ sauce that I had on hand. I also added about 1/3c molasses based on another reviewer's post. Lastly, we like our beans vegetarian so did not add any meat (ham hocks, etc). These turned out pretty good! Thank you!

Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2014
My family raved about the gourmet dinner I provided tonight with this recipe! Based on other reviewers recommendations, I coated the chicken in a dijon/white wine mix and then dredged in seasoned flour. I deglazed the pan with white wine and put in 1/4 chopped onion with it. I also tripled the sauce and used half & half instead of heavy cream. Terrific! Will make again! p.s. I did not have any fresh taragon so I used 1 tsp of dried.

Perfect Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
A great recipe that gives you options to adjust to your own tastes. I love recipes like this! I cut the Worcestershire sauce and horseradish in half and did not use hot sauce. I didn't have any paprika so garnished with smoked chipotle powder. Yum! Loved by all!

Homemade Shake and Bake Mixture

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
Great recipe! I didn't have celery salt, so I substituted with celery seed. I also didn't have garlic salt, so I substituted with garlic powder. I think this was better because the recipe was not as salty as it may have been otherwise. Also, I changed the recipe settings for 2 servings and was able to get 6 small boneless chops covered. Thank you!

Chicken Enchiladas V

Reviewed: May 4, 2014
This is a great base recipe! I found lots of great suggestions from other reviewers for altering this recipe to fit my own taste. I added about 4 oz of Velveeta cheese and 1/2 tsp cumin to the chicken mixture. I also used 2 large cans of chicken (yes, like tuna, but chicken) which saved A LOT of time! Lastly, I added about 1/4 cup of enchilada sauce to the portion of soup/sour cream that I poured over top of the enchiladas. Next time, I'll add twice as much enchilada sauce and maybe even some chopped jar jalapenos for some extra kick. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
Great starter recipe with lots of room for alteration. Based on other reviewers' suggestions, I halved the the cream cheese and added about 1/4 cup of white wine. I also put the soup (98% fat free) in at the beginning of the cooking time, and only added the cream cheese at the very end. Lastly, I used boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of breast meat. Very yummy!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
Yay! A great recipe that can so easily be customized. First let me say I'm thankful to those reviewers who advised me to 'leave it alone' even though the batter looked too dry. For health purposes, I only used 1/4c oil and then a heaping 1/4 applesauce. I also only used 1/2c of sugar and used Stevia (the equivalent for the other 1c of sugar). Lastly, I added a 1/3c of extra dark chocolate chips. This was a hit in my household! Thank you!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
I was looking for a COLD dip, not hot, and with a couple alterations, WHALA! I used the cream cheese (softened), ranch dressing, and Franks Red Hot Buffalo sauce. This was perfect to dip chips, pretzels, and veggies. Yum!

Bread Machine Rolls

Great, easy recipe. I also decreased the sugar to 2 TBSP and added 1 TBSP of honey. Didn't do the egg wash but brushed with melted butter instead. Yum!

Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
Great turkey burgers! Because we like spicy food (and because so many recipes claiming to be spicy aren't always hot enough for us), I added a couple of diced SLICES of jar jalapenos and a couple of shakes of Cajun seasoning. This made it REAL, nose-running spicy! Yum! I also used 1 tsp minced garlic instead of garlic powder. I did not have chipotle chile so I used 1 tbsp chipotle chili powder instead. I didn't have fresh cilantro, so used 1 tbsp dried. Lastly, I topped with sauteed grilled onions and mushrooms, and reduced fat cheddar. Thanks!

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Yep, this one's a keeper. I made lots of changes for our own health needs. Instead of sugar, used the equivalent of granular Stevia, mayo (as I didn't have Miracle whip), olive oil (instead of veggie oil), and celery seed (instead of poppy). Also shredded my own cabbage :-)

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Outstanding recipe! Used this with Tilapia instead of Salmon and it was wonderful. Got rave reviews from two very discerning fish eaters. Cooked for 13 minutes. Perfectly done and flaky. CHANGES: Substituted olive oil for butter; used 1 tsbp of dried parsley as I didn't have fresh. Thank you!

Spiced Yogurt Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I read some other reviewers comments & made some changes. 1) Replaced sugar with Truvia 2) Replaced the butter with 1/4 cup olive oil & 3/4 cup applesauce. 3) Doubled the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves 4) Did not use salt or allspice. 5) Used VANILLA greek yogurt 6) I added 1/2 tsp baking powder as someone else suggested to make it less dense. Tastes great & is sugar and butter-free!

Deviled Eggs II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
These were a little dry. I added another tsp of white vinegar, used dijon mustard and increased amount to 1 tsp, added 2 tsp of sweet relish, and 1 tbsp of real bacon bits. A good base recipe to make your own. Thanks!

Walnut Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
A great base recipe for sure. Very modifiable to your needs. As many reviewers did, I doubled the batch which made a nice 9x9" pan of brownies. I replaced 2c white sugar with 3/4c stevia in the raw & 3 tbsp brown sugar; instead of 4 egg whites I used 2 whole eggs & 2 egg whites; instead of 1/2c butter I used 1/4c butter & heaping 1/4c applesauce; used cocoa powder instead of carob powder; and used 1/2c pecans (all I had) instead of 2c walnuts. Turned out a nice, dense chewy brownie. Yum!

Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
For a sugarless cookie, these aren't bad! I used Stevia (granular kind) instead of Sucralose and only made 1/2 batch. I used only 1/2 cof Stevia, and followed other reviewers' recommendation by adding 1 tsp vanilla, a 1/2c of quick oats, and 2 tsp of cocoa.

Amy's Chocolate Chip Cookies

These were tasty and soft but not dense enough for me. Plus, I took other reviewers suggestions & added some salt and 2 tbsp of vanilla instead of 2 tsp. Needs something more, but havent figured it out yet. THanks!

Peachy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
Great base recipe! Like other reviewers suggested, I added a few things: 2 tbsp soy sauce, 3 cloves minced garlic, , and 1 tsp cinnamon. Also, after the 15 minutes of cooking down, I removed the pork and added a water/corn starch mixture -- mixed before adding to pan (1/4c water to 2 tbsp corn starch). Absolutely yum!!!

Christmas Morning Frittata

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Great base recipe! READ OTHER REVIEWERs notes for great tips. Used 6 eggs (instead of 5), added 1/2 tsp dried Thyme, used only 1 cup of cheese (1/2c mozzerella,1/2c cheddar), added 1/4c kale & 1/2c mushrooms (sauteed w/other veggies), and added 3/4c diced turkey ham. YUM! Dad loved it too!
