About this Cook
I am a full-time grad student who loves to cook during the stolen free moments.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying out new things, and love ethnic food. I am excited about making anything from Russian dishes to Thai curry - bring on the variety!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Still working on that :)
My cooking triumphs
Anything adventurous that I make for the first time and we are having company. Love getting "thumbs up" from my husband and hearing him boast of how brave I am in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
I have been fighting a loosing battle with my crockpot. I love the idea, and keep trying new recipes, but somehow it always ends up overcook and tasting the same. Maybe I just need a different crockpot...

Easy Indian Style Okra
Loved it, and so did my husband. Added chopped tomatos (1-2), and it was great.

Zucchini Soup I
Delicious, with the following modifications: Instead of sauteeing everything in a skillet and then transferring, I sauteed the onions, potatoes, and zucchinis in a large pot, and then added the water (with chicken soup flavoring) to the mixture. When everything was cooked, I used an immersion blender instead of a food processor. I added milk after pureeing everything. Finally, instead of soy sauce I used sherry and Worchestershire sauce (per other reviewer's suggestion). I also didn't feel the need to add potato flakes.
