I'm a happily married 28 year old from Covington, Louisiana. I've lived here in Louisiana my whole life and the best thing about Louisiana is the FOOD! I graduated college in January of 2008 and received a degree in Education. I am now a 6th grade Math/Science teacher in Slidell at Carolyn Park Middle School. My husband and I have been married for six years and I could'nt be happier! We are currently in the process of trying to start and family through the IVF process. Its been a long journey, but I have faith that we will achieve our dream of having a little one!
My favorite things to cook
I recently lost 65 pounds in the last year due to eating healthy and exercising. It is a challenge here in the south to eat right. I love to cook meals that taste delicious and I don't have to feel bad about eating! Even though they aren't good for you, I love cooking desserts..they are so FUN!! Anything you can make in a trifle bowl is right up my alley! I also love to make any dessert that involves using my stand mixer!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I absolutely LOVE my Mom's cooking (who doesn't!) Some of my favorite things my mom makes is her Tuna Casserole, Meatloaf, Stuffed Bell Peppers, and Spaghetti!! I remember Thanksgiving mornings helping my mom make dinner and my favorite part was helping make her dressing..it's the best!! This past year I finally made my Mom's dressing for Christmas.. and I have to say it came out PERFECT! I always make Crawfish Chowder on Christmas Eve and I'm known for making all kinds of desserts for all occasions! My favorite holidays to cook for are Halloween and Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
I think that I have just reached the stage in my life where I can cook really good and some of my food tastes better than my mom's and that's really saying something!! I am always willing to try new things in the kitchen and I'm always looking for something new to try!! My husband is the best tester..and he absolutely loves how I'm always making and trying new dishes.
My cooking tragedies
Ok whoever reads this is totally going to crack up laughing when reading this!! I just started cooking like when I was 17 and it's not like I was trying to cook anything from scratch, but from a box...Stovetop stuffing. I think I used too much butter and you know how it's supposed to be like a consistant texture, well it was runny! Can you believe I screwed up something as easy as Stovetop!! I've come a long way!!
