Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2014
I usually do not make cookies, but since we were snowed in(Alabama!)and I was looking for something to bake with what I had, this fit the bill. Followed this recipe to the letter. No added flour or peanut butter or vanilla. I did chill the dough for an hour and cooked for 9 mins. Absolutely. Wonderful. You don't have to change a thing.

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
This was pretty good. Next time I will leave out the balsamic vinegar, as we did not care for it in this recipe. Fixed with spaghetti squash casserole and succotash.

Poppy Seed Bundt Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
I make this cake during the holidays for gifts...Everyone always loves it! I do "flour" the bundt pan with sugar; makes for a nice, thin, sweet crust. I also add 1 cup of sour cream, and no water. So moist.

Honeyed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
I made per recipe but used bone in pork chops, as that is what I had. Good flavor, but next time I will not add the water, use more honey, and leave out the chopped onion; it did nothing for the recipe. Stir fried veggies in the pan I browned the chops with some soy sauce, and served over brown rice. Yum! Will make this again.

My Favorite Pork Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
Second time making this. This is very good...love the veggies in it. I used oats instead of bread crumbs, didn't have wheat germ and tripled the sauce on top. Oh and added chopped mushrooms that had to be used up. With mashed taters and pinto beans, and left over cucumber and tomato salad. YUM YUM! Can't wait for a meatloaf sammich tomorrow for lunch.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
I make this about 2-3 times per month..and every time I am amazed at how good this is. The only tweak I do is adding only one cup of water and throwing in some frozen corn. You can't even tell this is turkey. Can't wait till next fall when I get to use home grown crushed tomatoes...YUM

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I 6x the recipe and thought 6 eggs would be too much. Tasted thin and brothy, so I added the rest of the 6 eggs which helped. Maybe cut the broth a little more and up the sesame oil and add more cornstarch. All and all, pretty good..just need to tweak a bit to suit my husband's taste. He loves egg drop soup!

Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Make these!! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it took a lot of time. (I only had a 1/2 dozen muffin tin). I ended up making 20 of these with just a half pound of sausage and used 8 eggs. Do split the biscuits in half...I had no problem with overflow. It is OK for the biscuits to come up only half way up the tin as long as you spray the cups. I layered the cheese on the sausage and had no problems with overbrowning. These are so good!! I guess I will have to invest in a 12 cup muffin pan! lol

Un-Slimy Okra

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
The first to review!! This is pretty good actually. I used frozen cut okra, thawed, and a regular tomato, diced. I had to roast a little longer than called for since the okra was kind of damp from the defosting, but the results were good..nice and crunchy. And so easy. Will make again

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
Very good as written. I took about half of the bread to my husband's oncologist's office for the patients receiving chemo(a small snack helps the nausea) and it was gone with requests to bring more next week! I better get grating! Thanks for the recipes

Almond Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
Very good..looking for a rice recipe that was a little different. I, like others, used regular rice (Jasmine). I want to thank Serena for her tips on cooking rice. It worked! The best rice I have ever cooked (as far as fluffy goes). Reminded me of how my mom's rice was. YUM ;-}

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
I cannot make a biscuit..but I thought I'd give it one more try. First time they were good, I substituted butter for the shortning, and I was fairly pleased with the results. Second time, I used whole wheat flour and the shortening and I was again reminded I have no business making biscuits.lol I thought the dough was on the dry side so the third time I used margarine instead of shortening, added about a 1/3 c extra milk, used regular flour and these were biscuits to die for. Didn't rise as high as I would like, but I rolled it out on the thinner side, so that was my fault. So tender and such a good flavor. Now, if only I could get homemade bread to not turn out like something you would use for a doorstop ;-}

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
With only 4 eggs, no bread, half a stick of butter, milk, I needed to feed three adults and a child for Sunday breakfast..Voila! I found this recipe and it was very good. No leftovers. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Only gave 4 stars 'cause I added vanilla. Will try next time with Absolute Best Pancake Syrup from this site

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I use the same recipe for an almond poppy seed cake using yellow cake mix and vanilla pudding mix, almond extract, and poppy seeds. I omit the water and add 1/2 c sugar. If you grease the bundt pan with shortening and "flour" it with sugar, it gives the cake a nice crunchy crust. No need for a glaze!

Ham and Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Made this as I was looking for a ham salad recipe that was a little different. I hadn't ever thought of cheese in it! I forgot the mustard, and I think next time I'll throw in a few jalepenos in the mix. YUM. Don't think this will last the day in this house. Thanks for the recipe Barrett!

Tomato Cucumber Salad II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
This is really good. I also added dill weed as others did, and then threw in some poppy seeds. Went very well with the grilled pork steaks(fixed with a BBQ rub from this site). Will keep this as we are always overrun with tomatoes and cukes this time of year!!
