I spoil my husband by cooking a fresh meal from scratch almost every night of the week.
My favorite things to cook
pasta is my first favorite dish to cook. It is my "go-to meal" and my pantry is always stocked with all kinds of pasta, noodles, Prego sause (tomato and alfredo alike). I always have ground beef in my freezer and dried mushrooms on the shelf.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from Russia, and in Russia one of the staples for any holiday meal is, what I call, Loaded Potato Salad, however it is far from and superior to American potato salad. It is basically a meal in itself. you got potatoes, carrots, eggs, onions, pickles, ham, corn, peas, olives and a generous scoop of mayonaise... fingerlicking good!
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say Thai. My husband will eat thai any time of day and night, so I had to learn how make it. Now all who have tatsed my thai dishes unanimosly say that I should open a restaurant!
My cooking tragedies
ummm... Tiramisu. It is my most favorite dessert of all times. I will gladly go to one of Anchorage's premier Italian restaurants - Orso, just to indulge myself, but I will never spendmy time or money to make Tiramisu ever again. One and only time I made it, I desided to follow two recipes at a time. One by Giada DeLaurentis, other from Allreipes. Not a good idea... I ended up with a bowl of soupy, mushy, unpleasantly looking soggy lady fingers. it did taste like a real Tiramisu should, but the looks of it wished to be better. Never again, besides mascarpone is soooo expencive!
