Jambalasta

Reviewed: May 6, 2014
Can I give this a 5+++? This is amazing. My husband asked for jambalaya but does not like rice so I searched for a recipe that was made with pasta instead and found this one. I invited all my kids home for dinner==>I have 3 grown sons so I tripled the recipe. Fantastic. Only change I made was that I used penne pasta rather than linguini (hubby's preference). Been making it for almost 3 years now and never get tired of it. A friend of my sons has had it and then ordered at a restaurant. He told the staff they needed to ask me for my recipe cuz theirs didn't even come close. If you get the chance you have to make this. RAESIVE thank you for sharing this. YUMMY

Ham and Swiss Braid

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I cheated a lil bit and used store bought crescent roll dough to make this. WOW this was amazing. I made it the first time when we went to my parents. We spent the day closing down the trailer for the season and were all tired and cold when we got home. This hit the spot. Everyone loved it. In the first week after making it, it has been requested twice and my mother had me write it down for her. Even my father who is a meat and potatoes man asked for seconds.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I found the carrots to be too bland tasting and had too much liquid left over. I think there needs to be a little bit more flavor and possibly a thicker sauce. I will make a few changes and try again.

Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I will try this recipe again, because I think the mistake was my fault and not the recipe. I found the rice too mushy, but I had it ready about 20 minutes before the rest of the meal was done. Flavor was good, just too mushy for me.

Cream of Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
I made this exactly as directed and was a little disappointed. I found the tomato juice taste very strong. And I am an onion lover but not in my cream soup. I think next time I will add onion salt and leave out the onions and salt. And I think leaving it to cool for 10 minutes then adding milk makes for a cool soup, instead of a hot 1. We had to heat it back up. Will make again, but with mild changes. Sorry if I offended the submitter.

Pork Chops and Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
When I make this recipe, I omit the oil and add cream of mushroom soup and a can of peas. I spread the cream soup on the bottom of the pan, sprinkle the onion soup mix over top, then the can of drained peas, then the rice then the browned chops. Then pour boiling water over top. The cream soup mixes with the onion soup and then comes up through the rice and over the chops. I also use 1 1/2 cups of long grain rice for the 3 cups of water. Yummy

Lemonade Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
I found this to be light, refreshing and easy. Great for a summer BBQ etc. BUT I made the mistake of wanting to make 32 tarts and thinking that since the original recipe served 8 that I wanted to multiply everything by 4. Well I ended up with almost 100 tarts. Otherwise wonderful.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
Last fall I was just looking at different recipes on the site when I fell across this recipe. My idea of baking has always been to visit my mom and check out what's been baked and been placed in her freezer, but I thought I would try it. Now pumpkin is probably one of my favorite tastes, so I was anxious to try it. I made a double batch the very first time and one whole loaf was gone within 30 minutes of it coming out of the oven. I took the other loaf to work the next day and it was a hit. We have had a couple staff get togethers since and I am always asked to make this now. Easy to make even for a beginner baker like me, and soooo delicious. Try it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I am just starting to bake, but I made these because I love the biscuits at the famous "seafood" place. WOW. I was shocked that they turned out so good. I took some to work to ask the girls for their opinions and came home with an empty tin and every one of them requested the recipe. The only change I made was that I used the garlic butter from the store and melted it==>all the needed spices are in it already. Was quicker. And these go fantastic with the jambalasta recipe submitted by raesive.
