Grandma's Suet Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I added citron peel, currants and candied cherries and substituted apple sauce for the suet. YUM! Very good with "Hardly Hard Sauce."

Grilled Pineapple

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2012
I chose this because grilled pineapple was an impromptu dessert choice and I didn't have time to marinate. I cut the pineapple into thick slices and substituted walnuts (again, because it was a last-minute idea). SO. GOOD! My daughters added a dollop of cool whip to theirs and really enjoyed that, but it's juicy and delicious without!

Gramma Brown's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
My apologies to everyone who doesn't read the reviews... my rating is definitely based on cooking the bacon first and setting it aside until the rest of the soup is ready. I too fried the bacon in my pot and left the fat instead of adding butter. VERY TASTY.

Maple Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Very good. Not too sweet. I was concerned when I put it in the pan though, because it was the most liquid of all the fudge recipes I've used in the past few days. It's soft, but it set. Perhaps it's softer though, because I used Wilton chocolate (14 oz, because I didn't want 2 oz left over) instead of the Nestle stuff.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
I made this for an open house at work and it was the hit of the day! (And there were many tasty pumpkin treats to choose from.) I was worried that it wasn't going to turn out because it still seemed quite "jiggly" when I took it out of the oven (even after giving it the full 40 minutes plus another 5 after I turned the heat off), but it turned out well. A very nice, moist cheesecake.

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Yum. It's the perfect texture (smooth and not chewy at all) and is very tasty! I added some chopped peanuts too, and think that next time I would sprinkle some on top, too for decoration.

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I too doubled the spices. The flavor is good, but I was hoping for a moister cookie. I cooked them for 10 minutes at 350 and find them a bit dry (but still not hard or crunchy). Reading over some previous reviews now I wonder if I had cut that back to 8 minutes if they'd be more like I wanted.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I tried this with dark corn syrup and dark brown sugar and that was good too. A definite diet-buster.

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This is a favourite dessert in our house for sure! It's easy -- although not necessarily quick. I find it takes about 50% longer than the regular brownie recipe to bake.

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Very good recipe! I doubled the marinade because I used a large filet and cut the salt in half. Even my non-fish-loving husband liked it! I didn't have time to let it marinate very long (only 45 min.) and it was still very tasty.

Doc's Best Beef Jerky

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Very good! I rated 4/5 because I cut down the salt -- it would have been too salty for us with the recommended amount. We love it!
