Ricotta Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
I've been making Ricotta Cake for quite awhile now, it's one of my husband's favorites. Recently I miss placed my recipe for it, and while trying to replace it came upon this version, and as far as i can tell it's identical to my previous one. However since it had been awhile since i last made this i wasnt thinking, and of course didnt properly read the recipe so i made the mistake of mixing all the ingredients at the same time... i was worried but decided to try it... it didnt turn out too bad and i would recommend this method for anyone who wants to avoid the "wet cake" texture. My mistake turned out a cake that was slightly more of a sponge consistency, but still retained the ricotta flavor, I perferr the traditional method but this "oops" was also good... and saved quite a few steps, all ingredients mixed in one bowl and then into the baking dish... alot less clean up too!

Robert's Rosemary Rub

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
Yummy! We had this tonight on Rib-eyes as suggested and it worked out perfect. The rub was just enough to add a little flavor without taking away from the steak. We'll definetly be using this again!

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
yummm!!! I really like this fall themed recipe. I live in Germany so apples and sausage is in no short suppy and am always looking for delicious recipes that include both of them. Anyways I made a few little changes, I cooked the sausages in beer and then cut them lengthways and turned the heat up high which allows the beer to carmelize and crisps the outside of the sausages. I did the apple onion mixture as directed and served it on top of some mashed potatoes with the sausages on the very top. So so so so good!!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
I know it's a little untraditional but all I had on hand was some whole wheat bread so in place of the baguette I used that. Followed the rest of the recipe as written and it turned out great. Loved this bruschetta!

Missy's Candied Walnut Gorgonzola Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
Awsome salad, the candied walnuts were great and even though I had to sub feta for the gorgonzola and also red wine vingear for the raspberry vinagrette it still turned out perfect. I've got to say I am totally in love with this salad.

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
Overall this healthy version of pancakes was great. I took a few other reveiwers suggestions and instead of buttermilk ( didn't have any)I added a little vinegar to the milk. I also found the batter to be a little runny, so just slowly added a little extra whole wheat flour till i got the desired texture. Other than that, this came out great and is a heathly alternative to a classic!

Espresso Bark

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
Awsome!!! The white chocolate bar I bought was pretty hard to crush though so I also melted that down in the microwave and drizzled it ontop rather than pressing it in chunks, just as good!! Thank you for this great and easy recipe!!!

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
What can I say, other than WOW! So easy and so good!! I can't even begin to express how much I love this recipe! I had alot of unsalted peanuts ( bought on accident) and they worked out perfect. I also discovered with my second batch which didnt turn out quite as golden as I wanted that even if it's begun to get fairly hard you can pop it back in the microwave for a few minutes to brown it up, be careful though if you've already added the baking soda, you've got to watch it!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
This was great, though I made a few changes, some out cause i wanted to others cause I had to! I had no ham in the house so I subsituted bacon. I put the bacon, chicken broth ( not a fan of boullion) celery, onion, potatoes and chives into the crockpot added a minced clove of garlic and some herbs de provence and let it cook all day. When it came time to add the roux I made it with half of the milk and add some creme fraiche. All in all it turned out perfect. The best part about this recipe is it's so easy to play with, i'm sure you could add anything and it would turn out awsome!!!

Mexi Hominy

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
The flavor in this was great! This was my first experience with hominy, and the texture of it kinda threw me off, but that's a personal taster thing, and this recipe motivates me to give hominy a few more tries to see if it grows on me!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
I gave this four stars, because while I feel like this would be an ok recipe as written, I really think it's more of a starter recipe. The mixtures of flavors in this are great, I just feel like it was missing a few things such as fresh cilantro and avacoado for garnish, also instead of the lemon i used lime, and finally i slow cooked the chicken in a broth and hot sauce mixture before adding it to the soup. Overall I think this was a great recipe, just needed a little tweaking for my personal tastes

Libby's® Pumpkin Roll with Cream Cheese Filling

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
This was amazing, and surprisingly amazingly easy. I was a little intimidated by the instructions but decided to try anyways and I am so glad I did. The only changes i made was as another reveiwer sugested instead of using a towel to roll the "cake" i used two peices of partchment paper one on the inside and one on the outside. Yummy!!!

Cranberry Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
I wasn't really a fan of this, and I really truly wanted to be. I may try again next time I have extra cranberries on hand, the texture and flavor combined was what really didnt do for me, but I'm willing to give it a second chance, maybe with some tweaking it could be good, I feel like it has alot of potentail!

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
This was a great marindae, though like some other reveiwers suggested, go light on the soy sauce. I'm not a big pork or lamb eater so i went with what i had in the firdge and used a VERY VERY cheap, not so lean steak. I cut the steak into EXTREMLEY thin sliced and then dropped them into the marinade to soak for a day. When i was ready to cook i just took the meat, and the marinade dumped it into a frying pan with some mushrooms, and then packed it all into a pita with some lettuce, tomato, onion, feta, and the tzahiki I recipe from this site. It was great! Thanks for such an awsome marinade!!

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
This was INCREDIBLE!! The only complaint i had with this recipe was the lack of cucumber beacuase traditional tzatziki sauce contains cucumbers, however if your not a cucumber person this is amazing even without it. I made this to go along with another Greek recipe from this site, and OMG i will be making it again! An additional note, the best part of this recipe for tzatziki, no draining the yougurt, YAY!
