Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
This is one of my husband's favorite meals. I don't layer the dish though. I cook the ground beef and onion, and when browned, mix in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, a can of drained corn, and the 1 1/2 cups of cheese. I then put it in a 2qt casserole dish and top with the tater tots and another 1/2 cup of cheese and bake for about 55 minutes. We've tried this with different types of cheese, but always go back to a mild cheddar. Sharp cheddar is very good, but probably not the most kid-friendly taste and Co-jack seems to leave it with a slightly bitter taste.

Mansaka

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
I really liked this, but my husband just thought that it was okay. I found the smell of cinnamon to be very appealing. I will make this again, since it is nice to have a variety for hamburger hotdish.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
Very good! The peppers came out so nice and tender and flavorful. Followed the recipe except for using fresh garden tomatoes instead of canned, slicing the pepper on the vertical and sprinkling extra cheddar on top before baking. Next time I am going to add more rice and possibly some garlic and corn.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
Excellent chicken!! I did cut the butter in half as recommended, instead of regualr salt, I used Lawry's, and instead of regular mustard, used dijon. Used a pack of drumsticks instead of a fryer chicken, since that is what I had on-hand. I dipped each drumstick in the sauce, and placed on a foil lined pan - I like easy clean-up. Covered the pan with more foil and baked for 30 minutes. Then uncovered and poured the remaining sauce over the drumsticks and put back (uncovered) in the oven for 45 minutes, basting every 15 minutes. Served over white rice and poured the yummy cooked up sauce over the rice too. Both my husband and I loved it!! He's already planning on trying it out on the grill. If you like honey-mustard, this is a sure winner!!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I was excited when I found a brownie recipe to use up zucchini. I read all the reviews and followed the recipe exactly, and was very disappointed. The texture was nice and dense, but the taste just wasn't right. I guess if I want brownies, I'll make brownies. If I need to use up zucchini, I'll make the super yummy "Mom's Zucchini Bread" from this site.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
Very tender, and a simple and easy preparation for pulled pork. Mixed with some Famous Dave's Rich and Sassy dressing along with the Au Jus left in the crock pot.

The Best Chicken Salad Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
So, I made this salad both ways before rating this recipe. It's a very good simple chicken salad, and I will make it again. I liked it better with the chicken in chunks and the onion and celery just diced, but it wasn't "the Best". It did introduce me to Marzetti's Cole Slaw dressing, which was great!! Since I had the big jar, I added some of it to some egg salad that I made for sandwiches, and that was great!!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
Great pasta salad! I did a few substitutions: a red, yellow, and orange pepper, pepperoni (no genoa), mozzarella cheese, and rainbow rotini. I made the salad the day before and tossed with the dressing packet. Also made the balsamic dressing the day before, but did not mix them together until about 3 hours before serving. The salad both looked great and tasted great too!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
Yummy and very moist! Added nutmeg to go along with the cinnamon as recommended, otherwise followed the recipe as is, except for being too lazy to sift the dry ingredients. This is a keeper!!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2007
This was a very good cheesecake. Nice and smooth and creamy. I used the water bath as recommended, and I didn't have a single crack. I left it in the oven for about 4 hours to cool. I also added some cinnamon and sugar and extra butter to the crust to jazz it up a bit. I did run into a problem with the very center not setting as much as I would have liked. I think I will bake for an extra 15 minutes or so the next time. It is a beautiful looking cheesecake, that was very easy to make.

Aunt Millie's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
Very good, and I will definitly make it again. As recommended in other reviews, I increased the cream of mushroom soup, added milk, used cheddar instead of American, didn't add any extra salt, and used bread crumbs with extra butter for the topping. Super easy to make, and it is one of those recipes where you can just ball-park the ingredients until it looks right. I may try the french fried onions as the topping next time!

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
Very good tuna salad! I didn't have any curry powder, but it was great without it. It has a very gormet taste to it, and I wish I would have had some good bread to do it justice!

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
This is the best homemade potato salad I have ever had. I didn't have any celery, so I didn't use any, and also diced up 2 large dill pickles and added to it. This has to sit overnight for the flavors to mix properly. At first, I wasn't too sure about the taste, but the next day it was fabulous! Will 100% make again. I've already added it to my hand-written recipe box!

Pizza Salad II

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
It was actually a little bland. I expected more flavor to it, and I did use spicy italian dressing. We still enjoyed it and I will make it again. I will probably try a different italian dressing next time.

Cool Cucumber Pasta

One of my favorite pasta salads. The only thing I do differently is I like to use spiral (rotell) pasta instead of tube pasta.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
Absolutly wonderful cinnamon roll bread dough! I didn't use the filling in the recipe, because I was unsure about the white sugar. Instead I used the Clone of a Cinnabon filling (and doubled it since I needed it for 2 dozen rolls. Also, baked at 350 degrees as recommended by other reviewers, and then iced with cream cheese frosting.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Not very good at all. My husband, who eats almost anything, took one bite and asked me if it would hurt my feelings if he didn't eat any more.
