Adam's Dirt Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
Interesting idea. My cookies didn't turn out like the picture at all and they weren't flat either. It does have a buttery flavor but I like that as long it's not too greasy and it wasn't. I did notice the salt content in it, but it wasn't offensive, I will use a little less next time. The texture was soft and chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside which is my favorite. Thanks for sharing.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
Really quick and easy recipe to assemble and super tasty. We love it. I tasted it before and after letting it sit in the fridge. Thought it was a little sour before but after resting, it was perfect. I used a little more cayenne pepper because we love spicy food. Thanks for sharing.

Guacamole Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2007
Interesting Idea. I just used some of the left over guacamole instead of following the recipe. I am giving it four stars because I think although mine had a pretty good flavor but was missing something and looking over the recipe I think it would be much better if I had followed the recipe. Will try again, but I think old school deviled eggs won't be replaced.

Dutch Apple Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
Lovely light and not too sweet cake. I added some chopped apple in the batter as another reviewer had suggested and I ended up using 4 small apples all up, would probably add even more next time. I didn't finish using the sugar and cinnamon mixture on top, it just seemed like too much. I will follow some of the other reviewers and add some cinnamon in the batter mixture next time also.

Gaye's Microwave Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
It is as it's described. Satisfies a sweet chocolate craving. Not the best fudge I've had, but definitely the fastest and easiest and satisfied my bordem and sweet-tooth. I would call it chocolate icing rather than fudge, infact I'll use this recipe as a fast icing next time. Thanks for sharing.

Warm Apple Pocket

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
Excellent for the little effort, but I think I'll need to play around with the pastry and spices to get the texture and flavour to my liking, but I can see how this could be great. I am in NZ, so we don't have pre-mixed apple pie spice or the same kind of bought pie pastry (not as good) , I used a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice.

Banana Bread VIII

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
Just the texture I was looking for. Tasted a little salty when warm, but was fine when completely cooled. Has a little bit of a sticky end result which I like. Thanks for sharing.

Cookie in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
Great gift idea, I didn't try them before giving a jar away. I thought I should try them so I made them a few days later and they look great and I love the chewy/crunchy texture but they were lacking flavour. It just tastes sugary to me. I may try again by adding some flavourings or something.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
First bit that went in my mouth which was a small piece that got stuck to the pan was gross and didn't understand why people gave such good reviews, but then I tried a whole piece and it was a nice texture and chocolatey flavour, slightly greasy and would definitely try putting nuts and dried fruit in it next time because I was too lazy to try and find some in the cupboard this time. Not the absolute best brownie I've ever had but it's up there.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
They are true to the title, BIG FAT and CHEWY Chocolate Chip cookies, but they are just not quite there for the no.1 position in my recipe box. Slightly lacked flavour and texture is ever so slightly not what I am looking for. All in all a great cookie and everyone enjoyed them.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
They are in fact the "Best Chocolate Chip Cookies" I've ever made and I have tried a fair few. They have a great light crispy and chewy texture. I made them with 72% Cocoa dark chocolate and chopped raw almonds this time as I didn't have walnuts or semi-sweet chocolate chips, but I imagine they would be excellent with any other combination of chocolate chips or nuts. I've made these cookies about 5 years ago and they have been the cookies I dream about if I craved some cookies. I did have to bake them for longer to get golden brown edges and I ended up with 3 and 1/2 dozens of cookies instead of 24, but I am quite ok with that.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
These cookies have a great flavour. I think I'll put a little less oatmeal in mine next time, so I can have a little more cookie and a little less muesli bar texture.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
Excellent pita. I think I'll have to improve my skills to make this a perfect pita with shaping and cooking, some of mine are weird shaped because when I picked them up they stretched out of shape, therefore not cooking as evenly as the perfectly round ones. They are just like store bought ones if not better and at a fraction of the cost, also easy to make. I think I'll be making pitas from now on.

Crisp Rice Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
They bake up really nice looking and I didn't have any trouble with the mixture, really fast and easy. It tastes and smells pretty good. I would say this cookie is a kid's type of cookie.

One Bowl Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
Really great texture and base to add all kinds of nuts, dried fruit and whatever you can think of. I usually use 72% Cocoa Chocolate and I have tried different combinations of Crasins, candied ginger, dried apricots, walnuts, almonds, etc. All very tasty.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly and the final product was great if not better than any other recipes I've used before. SO SIMPLE and fast, no mucking around with beating eggs separately and all that. Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. I was pleasantly surprised by ending up with 7 serving instead of 5. Yeh... more for me. I used the 5 heart, flower shaped waffle iron. Well use again in the future and probably will tweek it a bit just for the sake of doing so with flavourings and such. Thank for sharing.

Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
Didn't really care for this, for all the effort of prep and finding the ingredients, the final product wasn't all that fantastic taste wise. I liked the texture and aroma of the herbs, but was really lacking in flavor. I made the shrimp ones with the addition of crisp blanched asparagus, shredded carrots and sprouts. And I made another lot with marinated thin pork slices which helped with the flavor aspect. My favorite part was the 1st sauce, without the sauce the rolls would have been barely edible. The final product did look really cool though, I wouldn't make this again unless it was for a fancy party or something. It was a good light meal, very fitting for a hot afternoon.

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I added vegetables (red and yellow peppers, asparagus, carrot, bamboo shoots) and used thin pork slices and 6 prawns instead of 1 pound of chicken. I did add a handful of Thai Basil at the end just because I have heaps on hand. I am personally not a big fan of Thai curries, but I think this is the best one I've ever tasted and my partner thinks it deserves a 5 even though it's not the best he's ever had.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
Tasty wings, but it's not exactly healthy as "Baked" would imply. Swimming in butter and I don't think I have quite the right Hot Sauce. The brand I got was so hot that I only used a 1/4 of what the recipe called for and it turned out to be an acceptable hotness but didn't quite have enough of that spicy and sour flavour. Will keep looking for a better hot sauce.

Gnocchi I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
I managed to work really fast with this recipe and not use up all the flour required. The end product was really light and fluffy. I think it was good, but my partner had some doubts. I think next time, I won't worry about working the dough too much and try and get all the flour in, I think that'll make it taste more like the kind they sell in restaurants and a little easier to shape and work with.
