Southern Roundup Memories

I have been on Allrecipes since 2007.  I quickly found the Recipe Exchange and was completely hooked!  In 2011, I noticed that Gderr, whom I had never met or talked to on the Buzz, posted a blog about a Southern Roundup in Panama City, FL.  It was meant to be since I live in Panama City!

Anticipation grew as I got to know the folks who were going to meet up here.  I'll admit, I was a little nervous the day of, as I had never met someone in person from the internet! I was really hoping no one was a serial killer!!!!

Finally, we all met at a local Oyster Bar/Southern Restaurant and we all just hit it off completely! (Obviously, no one was a murderer, lol!) We all had a great time ordering and sharing new dishes with each other and talking about what we like to cook at home.  Eventually, we all traveled back to the condo that everyone was staying at (beer and bourbon in tow)!  We shared family stories and realized how much we all have in common, even though we all come from different backgrounds.

I cannot wait for the Southern Roundup of 2012! These folks are the sweetest bunch of people you will ever meet! I feel like we are all part of a big ol' foodie family!!!

It's on like neckbone!

Add me to the list of people who would love to go! I would love to meet everybody. From reading last year's blogs, it looked like a lot of my favorite AR peeps were there. It has been a long time since I was in Panama City, too. Have fun!

Hi Amanda, I can't wait to come to the 2nd Annual Southern Roundup. Although in July we will have a mini roundup, only Gary will be missing. We will have lots of fun. Nice blog.

I forgot we will also be missing gator and fried pickles. Unless AR lets us use their kitchens of course.

About Me
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to get in the kitchen with my mom and my grandma :) I always learn something new from them and they taught me that cooking from scratch is a dying tradition that I need to keep going before it is lost. I also love to share my cooking space with my son! It's amazing how cooking can be so special and bring about a new bond!
My cooking triumphs
The day I got my Thanksgiving stuffing to taste like mom's- I nearly cried!!!
My cooking tragedies
Tragedies? What tragedies ;)
