Marinated Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
FINALLY a delicious marinade! I, however, didn't have turkey breast available and had to use split chicken breasts instead. And, the weather looked threatening, so into the oven it went as per someone's suggestion of 375 degrees. I baked until the internal read 175 degrees and broiled it until golden brown. I used the pan juices to make a gravy, which was equally as good. I can't wait to use it on chicken or turkey for the grill!

Chocolate Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
I too doubled the recipe. It certainly filled the pie crust and the meringue turned out good. It also was a little runny, but sliced fine after refridgerating it for a while. It's a bit chocolatey rich, which is good if you like. I had yet to make a meringue pie and this was a simple to follow recipe.

Peanut Butter Crispies I

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I was looking for a quick snack/dessert to take to a family gathering and this was great! It's a one pot-and-pour-in-the-pan dish that's quick and easy. My two brothers and a sister-in-law remember getting these at the grade school we went to!

Slow Cooker Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
We weren't totally excited about this recipe. I like dishes with some spice and "kick", but I think it was a bit of an overload. I may try it again with caution.

Mom's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Well, it's a step up from the last macaroni disaster I had earlier this year. I used 2 cans as directed from another reviewer and I still couldn't get the cheesy taste I was wanting. I wanted ooey, gooey, drippy cheese and got spooned hockey pucks. I added milk and the whole bit, but I still couldn't get this to come out. The only thing I liked were the buttery bread crumbs on top and that wasn't even called for in the recipe. Maybe one day my cheesy mac will come...just not in this recipe.

No Sugar Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
As usual I wanted to try something a little different than the "old tried and true". This came through for me. I was courious how the apple juice would work in this recipe and it sweetened nicely. I would back off the cinnamon to one teaspoon or so; it was too much for our taste and I used golden delicious apples. I believe it's worth a try!

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Very good recipe using small list of ingredients. It was quick to make and satisfied the hungry stomach. I added a clove of minced garlic and used Velveeta for the shredded American. We stirred in some pan fried smoked sausage topped with shredded cheddar for extra 'zing'!

Strawberry Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
I made this for a gathering and it was a hit. Cools you down after a hot and spicy dinner. I didn't have any junket so I used dessert pudding mix and cut down the milk by about half. Quick and easy for an "oh my gosh,I forgot about the potluck dinner" moment.

Hamburger Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Good mid-week supper recipe. It's also good for little ones with cooler tastebuds. I did like another reviewer and added some chili powder and garlic, even threw in some red pepper flake (just a smidge)for some punch.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
VERY, VERY GOOD! I wanted spice and got it! This is the best recipe for gumbo that I have ever tried. I add a few pods of okra, what's gumbo without some okra? I made this on a warm summer day and it still hit the spot. Can't wait to try it in 20 degree weather!

Porcupine Meatballs III

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
The meatballs were alright. The sauce was a little too tangy for our taste. If you cook too long the meatballs fall apart. Good for folks with tangy tastebuds.

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
It's a pretty good cookie when your watching your flour intake. I used a cup of Splenda and a splash of vanilla instead of white sugar. They fall apart easily making them this way but if you're watching your flour AND sugar intake just being able to eat what tastes like a cookie and still being good for you is good enough! Just have something cold to wash them down 'cause they are HEAVY!

Tangy Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
I wanted to try something tangy and I got more "twang" than anything else. We weren't too crazy for this. My family's tastes are in favor of smoky and mesquite-BBQ which is probally why we didn't care for it. Smoky BBQ lovers beware of this one.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2007
I didn't have any of the canned sloppy joe stuff and wanted to try something with a little different flavor. Well, I found it! Excellent taste, it was neat and the family enjoyed it too! I brought the canned sloppy joe mix on a recent camping trip (for quick and easy sake)and it didn't taste good. Neat Sloppy Joe's are worth trying!

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
I usually have good luck selecting recipes to try, but this one barely gets one star! It may have been something I did, but I read another entry that shared my same complaints...the smell while cooking, blandness, and consistancy where something I have never tasted with mac n' cheese. I ended up making the old tried and true.

Fried Apple Pies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
I really enjoyed this recipe. Easy breezy! I made a huge batch for my dad for Christmas and he just loved every bite of them. I took them to my kid's daycare and they loved them too! Awesome! Awesome! I use a glaze to sweeten up the delicious crust, some powdered sugar, vanilla and a bit of water, pour over the tiny bites of heaven and viola!...awesomely sweet apple goodness! Thanks for sharing a memory of my childhood!
